yup chef is 100% correct, Sony usually will never offer any form of updates for standalone device

The thing is that i have one big problem because i can not load external subtitle for divx, and i heard that i have to update my firmware, if you know any other way to solve this problem, i would be very thankfull

after hunting abit i found the following from an owner

obviously the next model up has the same problm, i would suggest you contact sony directly with your problem

i've allready seen that post on divx.com, that's why i was looking for firmware, because i couldn't find section for any firmware on sony's web site. Even if it comes out, i don't know where to find and download it...

How to upgrade my DVD player ?
Download the upgrade software file to your PC.
Burn the file onto an unused CD-R.
Do not burn any file other than this one onto the same disc.
Do not change the file name.
Use the file system ISO 9660 Level 1/2 or its extended format, Joliet.
Mode 1/2/XA
Single session
Write speed slow (e.g. 2x, 4x)
Finalize the CD-R.
Confirming the Player Firmware Version
With the player turned off, press the 1 --> 2 --> 3 button on the Remote Control.
Press Power Button to switch on the DVD Player.
Player's firmware version will appear on the TV screen. E.g.
Press Power Button to turn off the player.
Open the Tray, and insert the disc into the player and start playing.
"Loading" appears on the screen.
Please wait until message "UPGRADE FILE DETECTED" appears on the screen.Then "PRESS PLAY TO START" will appear on the screen and "PRESS PLAY" will appears on the front panel display. Press the PLAY button.
"COPYING FILE." appears on the screen. Wait briefly until the disc tray automatically opens, and remove the disc.
Shortly the message "UPGRADING" will appear on the screen and the front panel display. Please wait and don't interrupt the Upgrading process. It is important that you:
Do not turn off the player.
Do not operate the player or press any button on the player.
The disc tray will close and the normal display will re-appear. Now it is safe to operate the DVD Player. So when the QuickSetup option is displayed please select it, to set.
Confirming the new Player Firmware Version
Turn off the DVD Player using Power Button
With the player turned off, press the 1, 2, or 3 button on the Remote Control.
Press Power Button to switch back on the DVD Player.
Player's firmware version will appear on the TV screen - please check that the update has taken place.
Press Power Button to turn off the player before using it.
Press Power Button to turn on the player and it is now ready for normal use.
NOW you have support for DivX, Xvid and subtitles!

While i was upgrading my player the power went off
and now i can't get my player on again.
When I press the power button nothing happens...
Please help! It's a sony dvp-ns32...
