I have to disagree with the statement above in saying that:

1/ It can probably de done (but by Pioneer ONLY). HOWEVER the DL quality will probably be absolute crap, because the drive was not designed for dual layer burning.

2/ If such a firmware is EVER released, IT WILL HAVE TO COME FROM PIONEER. ASKING THE FORUM OF THE PATCHERS TO PRODUCE ONE IS POINTLESS.

WE CANNOT PRODUCE A DUAL LAYER FIRMWARE FOR ANY DVR DRIVE,
ONLY PIONEER CAN

If you insist on seeing such a firmware, talk to Pioneer. That's all.

Ahhhh, so what are you trying to say? hehehe sorry just kidding.

I mock those who continously ask and insist that it can be done even after you make it clear that it isnt logical that Pioneer would do it, or that flashers can not do it, unless they work for Pioneer? lol

How you been anyway?

After doing a spot of reading concerning the rated mW of the laser in the x8 series vs. those that have come before and adding to this the greater focal precision required of the hardware - I have to agree with >NIL here. I don't think its all that reasonable to expect a "good" resultant if somebody outside of Pioneer does manage it. Its a similar situation to the 451S@832S LiteOn escapade - sure, it works - but put it next to a real 832S... still a joke as far as I am concerned and you begin to see the tolerances and problems inherent of hardware limitation.

We can always dream - and some young ambitious type can give it a whirl I guess. If they can pull it off, all the more power to them I suppose. I just wouldnt be caught dead trusting anything to a patch of this nature. :D

Anyways - how have you been >NIL? ^_^

They did release it as the DVR-MCC, but the DVR-107D cannot be upgraded to the DVR-MCC.

Read the first post and use SEARCH.

What you can read there still counts.
