Is here

1/ Yes, it's the XL only. The 107 plain will follow but it might be days before it happens
2/ Since nathane complained about patched not writing some 2x media as well as official, I have slightly changed the way 2x4all is done. Might be better, but it might as well break 2x burning on some media completely. Let me know.
3/ bla bla bla, yada yada yada. Happy?

hmmm... I would have loved to see an RPC-1-only version of 1.18, but anyway, I am looking forward to trying the nx4all version of 1.18 for the DVR-107D. To >NIL:, I don't think there is such a thing as a "DVR-107XL", no mention of it on the Pioneer website (Australia or otherwise). I think the DVR-A07XL drives are only available as retail drives, so maybe you should change your firmware notes so that the respective versions are titled "DVR-107" and "DVR-A07XL" to avoid confusion. Well done and thanks for all your hard work! *bows* :D

Regards,
TerminalVeloCD

It is impossible to avoid confusion. There are tens of names floating around for a single drive. We just hope that the users know what they're doing well enough to understand what hardware is what.

The hell if I'm not allowed to take liberties with my names when Pioneer are allowed to confuse all their user base by using a completely devilish naming scheme!

Moreover:
In the readme, I wrote:
Drive: Pioneer DVR-107XL (Dual format 8x speed DVD+/- Burner, *XL*)
Also known as: DVR-107XLA, DVR-107XLB, DVR-A07XLA, DVR-A07XLB
;)

Hey everyone.

I just tested this firmware on my A07xl and it has killed 4x burning on my 4x princo blanks. I get a power calibration error in nero.

8x works fine though,
Anyone else notice this?

Anyone else have the lead-in crash problems, or just me? Did you notice that something was funny with 2x write, or just took my word for it?

Well, since I have only one 2x media, I had to take your word for it ;)

marlboroman, first you should know that you shouldn't rely on Princo media. Now, did you try on multiple media? Does this happen all the time? Did you try with the official firmware?

first of all: THANX again >NIL: for your job with Pioneer A07XL

I had an A07XLA with your latest hacked fw version 1.16 before flashing to the new one. Everything was fine.
I use to burn Ritek G04 and G05 DVD-R with my Pioneer. Actually I have ARITA G04 (4x) and DataSafe Media G05. After flashing to your newest 1.18 fw I was unable to burn ARITA DVDs: the burning process did not start @ standard 4x speed (ARITA are poor quality G04 DVDs so that @ 6x they use to burn with errors) with an OPC error. So I flashed to official 1.18 and everything was fine, no OPC error and succesfull burn with ARITAs. So I flashed back to v1.16 - RPC-1 + 12xRip + nx4all and again no problems.
I never had an OPC error before. It seems it happened with the new hacked 1.18.
Hope this helps. If you wish more infos let me know what tries you wish me to do....

thanx again 4 your support

Good stuff.
I just flashed my Teac to a true 107d with your 1.16 release so I look forward to the 1.18.
It's all appreciated.

Does anyone know if there is a changelog for all the official Pioneer releases?

Yes, you can find the changelogs in the support sections, next to the firmware updates.

>NIL:, nice work.
Is there a chance that Pioneer implemented some new routines to prevent patching?!?

Nope. As I said before I tried a slightly different new way for 2x and 4x and it looks like rather than improve burning at that speed, it made it worse. 'bit suprised it's giving such bad results though, coz it was a minor change. I should be releasing a new 1.18 with the old way patch tonight.

First I'd like to say thanks for your hard work >NIL:.

I only ever buy princos these days because i've been having no problems with them lately.

I tried with quite a few discs and all wouldn't get to the lead in using 4x. They still burnt at 6x and 8x alright.

The same discs work fine at 4x with the official firmwares and also with your previous releases.

I'll look forward to 1.18 with your old patch. Thanks mate.

Release #2 is out (same link). Hopefully should fix the 4x burning issue.

Oops, discovered another issue which might well explain the 4x burning problem (and can have more consequences in picking up the proper write strategies for all media).
RELEASE #3 (same link) is now out and supercedes all others.
I would advise everyone who already applied 1.18 patch to flash this release #3.
