I have the nec2510a firmware. I have applied the firmware on my nec2500a and so far it can burn single layer disc. I don't have any dual layer to try it on. But I still need to test it somemore to make sure it works fine for the single layer as i got 1 failed burn during one of the test.
Perhaps herrie can take a look into it and mod it to make it run better?

i wouldn't wanna email to everyone who request for it. That would be tiresome. I think sending it to herrie would be best as everyone could download from his site.
But...shouldn't I wait for herrie's approval before sending it to him?

If he really didn't want to get it, he could just delete it from his mailbox without ever downloading it.  Somehow, though, I have a hunch that he'd be delighted to get it.

Of course none of this means nothing until you have some media to test it with. Just because the firmware accepts it does not mean the hardware also will. I heard the 2510 has an 8MB buffer on it as opposed to the 2500's 2MB?
We will just have to be patient and see.

I too was told of the 8Mb buffer. I have since been told there is no truth to this....

Yes. I would like to see that it indeed shows the Dual Layer option is checked. The newest DVDInfoPro has a checkbox for this.

Why do all my 2500A firmwares have a serial number in InfoTool and InfoPro - but this does not? Why?
