Hi guys ,got on these drives coming.
Is there a firmware available that writes ritek GO3 at 4x(minus format)?
I knew they would go 4x without problems(very decent graph),anyway I'd appreciate any info as to wether a patched firmware is available to do this.
I'd try myself but coding and me wouldn't go well(not got a clue where to even start,I'll leave to you guys with the know how) and would prob write my drive of at the first attempt.
I am really looking forward to getting this drive as seems to have alot of potential,on a footnote can do do karaoke discs(cd+g).
Anyway fantastic work (those of you whohave created media patches) you really know how to get the max out of these drives.

To Answer Some Q`s:-)
I would love 2 put all my time into the Firware, but i have a very hectic lifestyle and also Mod another Forum so i dont get much time, thats why i posted the tutorial for u all.
Yes - 2x to 4x works great on my riteks inc the + format 2.5 to 4x but as stated dont go any higher it does cause alot of probs.EKK
4x to 8 mixed reaction?...Works on the BRANDED disks, but not 100% of the time. so far id say 70%.
RWs - and + a no go for speed change.
As for downloads, no i will not b responsible for blowing up peoples drives LOL!....
I will do a speed change for all the disks in the Firmware, but plz dont ask me to add media codes i dont now how?. I can knock em out and replace but not add. lol..
I was suprized i even started hacking this firmware and went 4 it myself. But it was worth it. Its only Money and i "LOVE a challenge".
Regards
Pacman:-)
PS: Thxs to all for your nice replys, Perks me up for the day

PS: I want to see graphs, to see how the 2.5x - 4x and the 4x - 8x go on other Media Brands:-) Good Research.

@ Pacman
I compared your modded Firmware with the Original.
You opened my Eyes how to modify the DVD-R types.
But can't we go higher with the DVD-R Speed ?
There seems to be a Hardware identical Type of Burner, and this
one is able to burn DVD-R with 8x Speed (Norcent DWD840-N).
Also, how can we get new Media types into the Firmware ?

Yea u can go higher, just change the 06 to 1E but this drive is a 811`s and dont do 8x "-" format as far as i know?. Id like to know if it can b done, oww that would b a nice HACK!.
As for adding in New Media codes i havnt got a clue, im trying to sust it out.
I can knock one out, then put another in, Sorry

http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=DWD840-N
That is a LiteOn/Drive box re-labled, surely?.
Why not?, looks possible for us 811`rzz. We need the Hardware Boyz on this one?. Can we have the 8x "-"?.
iM GONNA try something out?...UP the Speed 4 the DVD-R`z and see what happenz. Give me 10minz..A Challenge hahaa!

Up the speeds to 8x for the "-" Format on all media codes, but the drive is not able to burn them at 8 only 4.

OK worth a try.
Sadly there is no Firmware available on Norcent's Site.
That could give us a BIG Hint.
Just a matter of Time.
I think when the first 8X Media is on the Market - there will be a new
FW.
At the Moment i'm satisfied with the Results so far !

Me first Media Code Input-Replacement
REPLACED GSC502 002
FOR MEDIA001
Dont burn at "8x" only "4x", not very good results.
Please keep to speeds stated for RW` disks....
To many files make people confused, "which one do i Use"..:>?>

hi
i find is strange that the original firmware HS0E [*Profanity*] up my speed table.
the original firmware did a 4x burn on my 4x DVD disks (Traxdata)
now my new firmware on the nero 6.0.0.28 does only 2,4 or maximum...witch is a 8x burn on a 4x disk
where is my 4x option... not that i need it !!!

Thats the way i also thought to bring in new Media Types.
Overwrite the Old ones wich are only max. 2X Speed.
@Pacman do you have the older Firmware Flash Program HSO6 ?
Maybe looking into that would help to find out how to insert more Media Types without overwriting ?
Do you think modifying the 411 FW would let it burn at 8x ?

After googling i found a link with the older Firmware.
Don't laugh - its a Chinese site i think but the link on the site is in English.
Here : http://www.mydrivers.com/dir80/d32034.htm
Compared it with HSOE - definitly less media codes at the same offsets.
But i dont have a Clue how to get more codes in without changing the File Size or wrecking the whole File !

Nada - the 411 FS0F has got EXACTLY the same Media Codes as the original HS0E.
So the max Burnspeed is NOT determined in the Media Codes.
End of the "little Dream of simply overclocking the 411".
