Hey

I recently bought some Premium DVD-R,
I got failure when trying to burn using the 1.05 firmware, so I flash my drive to the 1.05 hacked firmaware in the beginning I could burn 8x. I got 2-3 succesfully burnings, nothing to complain about !!
But now I can't even burn at 4x without getting a "internal failure ... " or "power calibration error" - anyone knowing why these failure occurs ??
Another weird thing is, when I try get information about the dics, using Nero 6.3, it's telling me that isn't Premium but AML.

They call them Premium but AML is the MID/mediacode which counts.
Probably the media isn't good enough and media-quality itself varies "constantly".
You should search for results with that media on www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdmedia/ or here in the forum.

Just a little side point dont be fooled by what is on the disc like CHEF said its the media code that show its true identity. So search for good media on the above mentioned site and then buy them eg ritek g04 if you can get them mate.

Hi
Just had a pile of these very cheap from Belgium (www.dvdwinkel.nl) and they burn fine @ 8x in my Pioneer DVR-107.
These are the violet ones.

If you guys want to be sure to talk about the same discs /dye - please post the media code.

DVDInfoPro "Media Info" "Advanced commands" window at the lower right.
"Show complete media code".


...and even then: lost cost media like Princo and AZO vary a lot and should be avoided. Cheap media gets expensive when burning fails...
