I can happily say - 100% success - BeALL disc burned beautifully at 2x, without a stutter. I haven't played back the whole image, but it seems to have worked without any issues.
It's official, Herrie - you are the NEC FIRMWARE GOD!
ps. Have you thought about selling your version back to NEC?

Or is it possible to hack the firmware so that it can write in 1x speed? The discs I'm trying to use are these: Code: 00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 7A 0D 11 .B...@....P..z.. 88 88 70 00 03 4F 50 54 4F 44 49 00 04 53 43 4B ..p..OPTODI..SCK 30 30 31 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 001............. Thanks in advance everybody! 00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 7A 0D 11 50 indicates that it's 2x media Officially there isn't no 1x media, because the media code can only be 50 or 52. 50 = 2x, 52 = 4x!
OK, thanks. I guess I'll have to find some other media that works better with the drive. Excellent job with the latest firmware btw!

Noob time, once again...
Im using W2K, and I tried first to backup the original firmware, running W2K normally with following command line:
nd1300a -sec -mas (since I've my drive @ master) -out original.bin
It started the "ND1100a flashing program", I got few lines of text, credits, copyrights etc - but that was it. It didn't create any new .bin file.
http://tekzero.com/upload/Flashing.jpg
After that I tried booting with F8 (i chose safe mode with command prompt - that looked the most right option) - tried the same - no difference.
After that I tried a risky flashing, without backupping the original (since It didn't want to make the god damn backup.bin), and the result was same.
It did nothing. Help me out here, what I should do?

Get a bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com, run the .exe make a diskette and put the firmware on the diskette Then reboot and flash

Chef told me it could be done with out the disc - since I don't have a floppydrive atm connected.
So any other option or must I connect the floppy drive? Im out of the god damn [*Profanity*], that was the reason I had to remove it.

I use a bootcd I have a small FAT32 partition with the flash stuff, so I can access it after I booted. If you want I can make an image from my bootcd ? It's about 2mb I guess

I've burned a few DVD+Rs with my NEC ND-1300A and they work fine in a xbox with a thompson dvd-drive and a (some of them) in a xbox with a philips dvd-drive. If you have a samsung drive in your xbox, it won't work (at least without changing the booktype from DVD+R to DVD-ROM).

I got to failed attempts at 4x where the burning stalled approximately 50% of the way through. So i tried 2x and burned the disc successfully.

Yeah, please do the image. Most kind of you, though I've all my three HDDs @ NTFS. Flashing isn't possible this way? I've to make a FAT32 partition with the ND1300a.exe + .bin?

So best seems to DL a bootable diskimage and create a bootable CD-R/W with it and the needed flashfiles. You can do that e.g. with Nero. Just select bootable CD and select the bootimage and the needed file, then burn and start up with it.
Thanks a lot. Going to try that right away!
...though I'd better get the bootable image first from somewhere.
btw, since I don't have any CD-RW's, but DVD-RWs - can I use those?

I splitted my partition with Partition Magic 8 (just made an FAT32 HD of 50 MB:))

Why not?
Just select DVD-ROM (Boot) instead and then do the same steps like with CD-R/W.

hehe - I know, it's just that on page six you wrote something like "plz post codes of working media" and I did not find the DiscPower media posted, so I thoug I'd do it
AND the firmware you made especially for me, is working like a charm - I cannot thank you enough. The Mmore discs burn flawlessly at 2x.

Herrie! I love you!
Btw, you really should begin to put version numbers on your hacked firmware's so we know which one to get.
ex. 105.hacked.ver.1.3.zip
105.hacked.ver.1.3.rpc2.autoreset.zip
105.hacked.ver.1.3.rpc1.zip
And maybe a .txt with a history?
Keep up the good work!
