I come from that evo-x.de xbox forum.
Some User report problems with ND 1300.

ONLY if Plus Media is used (minus all o.k.) , the following problems accour.

Plus Media burned with UDF / ISO 128 Mode
with marked Button for Xbox Compatiblity , are not readable in Xbox anymore.
Media still works in PC , because of UDF , but no way in any drive of Xbox.

If minus Media is used , no Problem !

Firmware 1.06 from the same build TDK Burner , same Problem with Plus.

Only the ND1100 this problem does not have.
I flashed one ND1300 to ND1100 and all works fine !

Do you have the possibility differentiated between that 1100 'er and that the 1300 er to find?

Which media do you use?
Which version of firmware does the 1100 have? 1A0 or 1A1?

Just fixed the firmware again. Princo based 4x media could be written @ 2x again. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Please let me know when some media that used to work with the original firmware doesn't work with my hacked f/w!

I'm going to dig into the 'Writing routines now, in order to see if I can find anything usefull It would be great if we could write Princo's at 4x

Adding support for media that aren't in the firmware is not yet possible, because I don't know how to code the writing strategy for NEC. In case anyone could be of any help, please let me know!

Sorry for such a noobie question but can someone tell me how on earth to flash my drive? Ive formatted a disk in xp with the tick for ms-startup selected copied the bin and exe file restarted, typed nec 1300a.exe and it coems up with a screen saying its for 1100a or oem's then the last line say sepcify drive? but I cant even select any drive through msdos apart from a: comes up with invalid drive?

Ok I managed it but it still does not write to bulkpaq or bigpocket 4x media (is it supposed to have been fixed?) as I dont know which die these two medias use?

It should work with 4x Bulkpaq as they are Princo's! Please post the media ID of the Bigpocket 4x's!

Ok tried this but cant rind te bin file? dos shows it as 105HAC~1.bin but in wins its shown as 105HACKFIXED.BIN when I try either its saying file cannot be found? coudl i be corrupt?

In DOS do: NEC1300A.exe -sec -mas -flash 105HAC~1.bin

Then it should work

What did you exactly type in to get an error???

If you are under DOS then use the short dos-filename - why shouldnt that work?

I have no idea I tried both the short and full, anyway all I did was rename the fie to 105hac.bin and it is now working at 2x on bulkpaq so thanks Herrie!, one think does that mean it will only write at 2x for all media or only the princo ones? I have some other media which were writing at 4x fine before

Just try it. I only have 4x Princo's over here now working @ 2x. I don't know for other 4x media, but they should still work @ 4x like they used to do!

maybe you just forgot the ~ (tilde) in that filename.
I had never a problem with long filenames under dos which contains the the ~ instead of the rest of the filename...

Anyway, good to see that t works now.

Digging into writing strategies now:) Of every writing strategy which consists of 276 bytes, 118 bytes are equal!

I need to compare those equal bytes with the ones from the 2x writing strategies in order to see if there's anything that makes the difference In that way I could simply change those bytes and we should be able to write @ 4x at Princo Going to take a shower first

The ND1100 sets the booktype of a DVD+R to DVD-ROM. The ND1300 doesn't. This may be the cause for that.
By the way: Do you have a samsung-drive in your xbox? The samsung doesn't read dvd+r (at least without changing the booktype).

I have flashed my ND-1300 with Herrie's hacked firmware and I am now able to burn those Datawrite 4x DVDs with Red label(Princo).

My only and biggest problem now is that 2 out of 2 DVDs that I have burned have serious errors in them. Only about 40% of the disc is readable. I am using Nero 5.5.10.28. Anybody else having similar problems with this media?

Could you please post the Media Code? I have Princo 4x and they work without any problems!

Maybe the media code differs a little?

I've got Princo's with exactly the same ID and they work @ 2x with my firmware!

I tried this an am getting error "ASPI Command Returned: Sensekey 05h. ASC 24h;ASCQ 00h

what is this mean, as Im also trying to get media id of bigpockets 4x media
