Not having tried to get rid of the region protection, my UJDA710 (in Toshiba Laptop) F/W 1.50, stopped burning CDs.
Could the autopatcher (mpatch) help solving this problem? I really don't care about the DVD regions, the burning is more of an issue. Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi all (and especially Nil & Tinstaafl)
Thanks a million!! I successfully patched my UDJA730, on my HP Omnibook xe4500. Driveinfo says that it no longer has region protection!!
All I need to do now is test it tonight at home.
One question: Nil, my previous firmware (apparently) was v1.02, and after writing it I am told it is 1.00. Is this because of the patch? I thought that the only thing to change was the RPC code?
Does it matter?
Oh, I also have access to some more of these. Nil, I know that you mentioned that you wanted the *unpatched* firmwares, I only have a patched one. How can I get an unpatched one?
Thanks

I used mpatch but I think I had a CD in the UJDA710 drive and now I can only read DVDs, the no. of region changes left has gone from 4 to 2, although DVDInfo reports no lock AND, I have completely lost all CD and all other CD related problems.
Have I miss used mpatch ? any further attempt to patch return ERROR P05.
Help!

first to Rookie, I just patched my drive yesterday. The no. of region changes left has also gone from 4 to 2. I also tried to patch again : same error P05. But my drive works fine ! So there's no link between this error and your CD problem.

When will all firmware of UJDA series will be available for download?
I think it will be easier for user to apply RPC-1 if the firmware provided in download section.

I've talked to farzeno about that... He's a bit busy, but he'll see what he can do.
Now, I think all the people who got problems using the autopatcher might want to have a look at this
It looks like LaurentP got a major breakthrough to get the 1 disk foolproof version of the autopatcher released (at last!).
Can anybody confirm that issuing a dir command between mpatch and drvloadc fixes the infamous freezout issue?

huh... As far as I remember if you run mpatch with -h or an erroneous option, you will get what you want. I know I did that, but that was so long ago...
