My DVD collection I would like to share with you.
Since I've recently got a DVDR burner I also made a copy of some of the movies I wanted to have in my collection. All this movies are renter from DVD rental store and copied for my collection only. I never rent my DVD movies or sell them forward. It's for my own personal collection. All of them are one on the DVD+/-R medias.
That's about it. Will update regulary.
Fell free to comment!

I must admit that I would subscribe to much of Hijacker's DVD's that I know off, especially Forrest Gump or Enemy at the Gate
Anyway, here we go for my list.
- Contact (R1) - First DVD I ever bought. Excellent movie. Excellent bonuses
- Starship Troopers (R2) - 2nd DVD I ever bought (same day as the first one). I like the anti-propaganda/anti-military non-obvious stuff in there. The Bugs are cool too!
- From The Earth To The Moon, HBO miniseries (5 DVD's (R1)) - One of the best birthday gift I ever had. I'm very much into the Apollo stuff at times. What this small world needs to know is just how amazing an astronaut Pete Conrad was!
- TRON (R1) - You know the story... And they released a special edition today, damn!
- Phil Collins, The making of 'Face Value' (R0) - Excellent DVD about an excellent artist who crafted a most excellent album
- U2, The making of 'The Joshua Tree' (R0) - Hey, didn't I move to Ireland after all
- Friends series 6 (R2) - got'em 3 secondhand at a very good price
 - The Right Stuff (R2) - Ditto. Told you I was in this kind of stuff
- Fearless (R1) - A masterpiece, for those who can figure it out...
- Rebel Without A Cause (R2) - Bargain again.
- City Of Angels (R2) - Cool movie. And you get Alanis Morissette in the bonuses
 - The Matrix (R1) - 'was released at least 3 months before R2 (and less than 2 months after the movie hit the screens in Europe). How could I avoid it?
- Conspiracy Theory (R2) - This movie deserved a much bigger success than the one it had.
- The Abyss - Special Edition (R2) - Well I had money to spend, and I liked this movie. But those English censorship animals cut that bloody rat-breathing-liquid scene!
- Gladiator - Special Edition (R2) - why not?
- The Hurricane (R2) - True story, well served both by the director and actors
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (R1) - Simply the best movie of 2001
- The Beatles, Yellow Submarine (R2) - Can't help being a huge Beatles fan after all
- Porco Rosso (Anime) (R2) - Hayao Miyazaki is a true genius of our times
- Princess Mononoke (Anime) (R1) - from the same Japanese master of animation
- Always (R1) - Good story, great acting, directed by Steven Spielberg
- Apollo 13 - Collector's Edition (R1) - Obviously couldn't miss it.
- Gattaca (R2) - Efficient storyline, efficient acting
- 2001 - A Space Odissey (R2) - "Open the door please, HAL!"
- Finding Forrester (R1) - Not as good a "Good Will Hunting" from the same director, but some great acting too.
- Bullit (R2) - Steve McQueen and the car chase in the streets of San Francisco... Great editing too (which got a well deserved academy award I think)
- The Great Escape - Special Edition (R2) - Compelling story, true enough to reality whilst being highly enjoyable. Legendary cast too.
- TRON - 20th Anniversary 2 discs collector set (R1) - Definitely worth it!!! And that's my second TRON DVD
 - Total Recall (Not the Special Edition, R2) - That'll entertain kids. So, are the clouds in the end sequence moved by pulleys or not?
- Apollo 15 - The Complete Downlink Edition (Spacecraft Films - 6 DVD's
) (R0) - Told you I fell into that before I was even born... 12 hours of video from the handful of people who can truly say that they've visited another world... Say, when do we get back to the Moon already? - Alanis Morissette, Live In The Navajo Nation (R2) - Aaaaah..., Alanis!!!
Go back to your bunch of empty-shelled-singers à la Kinder Surprise, and let other people enjoy artists who have some depth! I just love that little woman! - Spirited Away - Special Edition (Anime) (R2) (don't even want to let you know what a !"£$%^& bad job the French did at translating the title) - Only now are people beginning to realize what I've been shouting out for years: Miyazaki IS a genius.
- WarGames (R2) - I am very fond of the vision of computing we had in the 80's. Computer were so new then, you had to be part of a certain "elite" to truly apreciate them. And everything was still so open, so incredibly optimistic - almost utopic. It was all about sharing and technology then (hacking is really a way of making people who don't want to share information with you do so). [*oops*] era that was. A few movies reflect this, and WarGames is one of them. The director's & writers commentary on this DVD is quite enlightning too. There's more subtility in this movie than you would expect...
- Forrest Gump - Special Collector's Edition (R2) - Zemeckis always manages to pull some pretty amazing stuff in his movies, and this one's no exception. And when you get a 2 disc special edition packed full of bonuses for at least half Amazon's price, why bother?
 - Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones (R2) - If you gotta own a Star Wars on DVD (and you have to own one!) this is the one. Everything is absolutely excellent on this 2 disc edition. Add a seconhand price to it and you have a DVD drive killer! Thank God Jar Jar almost doesn't appear in this one!
 - Castle in the Sky (R1) - What more can I say: I'm a big Miyazaki fan. The non initiated sure don't know what they are missing...
- Subway (R2 - the 2003 release from Gaumont + Columbia/Tristar) - At last a quality release of what is probably Luc Besson's best movie. It was about time!!!
- Paris, Texas (R2) - My favorite movie of all times!!!
And absolute masterpiece of a movie. Sometimes (but very rarely) everything falls into place: A great theme, a good storyline, talented actors and director, amazing sceneries, subtility, sensibility, etc... It's extremely rare, but it does happen. The result: movies like Citizen Kane... or Paris, Texas. I tell you - there is one God for us moviegoers, and he must have helped produce this gem of a movie... - The Shawshank Redemption (R2) - I was well advised by Hijacker to buy this one...
 - Monty Python and the Holy Grail (R2) - "Let's not go to Camelot, it's a silly place."
- K-Pax - Collector's Edition (R1) - Graphically superb, innovative, intriguing. Bridges and Spacey are the perfect match for a tale with a twist. Don't watch it in French though, coz it's just another exemple of poor dubbing... I can't beleive how much you lose from a great movie with a bad dubbing.
- Payback (R0) - I knew from Conspiracy Theory that Mel Gibson can really jump out of the screen of non blockbuster movies, and this one's no disappointment. Dark tale, enlighting cast
- Robocop - Collector's Edition (R2) - Well, as the above shows, I'm a Verhoeven fan, and I have always enjoyed watching the satirical vision he has of our future (?) society... It looks like US critics don't get it... What a shame.
 - Back to the Future Trilogy (R2) - ...and I'm a big Zemeckis fan too, especially when it's a gift from some good friends. What a pleasure to watch all three in one go. And for once, the French dubbing doesn't suck!
- Dances With Wolves (Special Edition) (R1) - Can a great 3 hour movie made even better with an extra hour - Most definitely YES!!! There was so much more that was filmed than what was actually cut into the original movie, and it's an absolute delight to watch this extended version make it to DVD at last. For those worried about picture quality, it's a DVD-18 (18 GB for the movie only - the extras are on another disc).
A must have, and well worth the money!
Well that's about it. And as you can see, I would be pretty annoyed not to have a region free drive

When I lived in the U.S. I always thought what's the big deal about region free DVD Players? Now that I've been in Korea for 2 years, man, region codes are a pain in the @ss. Here's my collection:
[list]
[*]Sorum [R3] Korean movie, haven't watched it yet.
[*]Matrix [R3] Great!!
[*]Repo Man [R1] Emilio Estevez is great, this is a cult classic
[*]Desperate Measures [ALL] Got for free with a magazine, for free not bad.
[*]The Man Who Fell To Earth [ALL] David Bowie is outstanding, this is my favorite movie of all time.
[*]Pearl Harbor [R3] Good
[*]Saving Private Ryan [R3] Good

[*]Wet Shorts The Best of Liquid Television (MTV) [R1] OK
[*]The Falcon and the Snowman [R1] I really like Sean Penn, this is another classic.
[*]Sid & Nancy Criterion Collection [R1] Story of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen - excellent.
[*]A streetcar Named Desire [R1] Hey, I'm a Marlon Brando fan!
[*]Tokyo Decadence [R1] Story of a "nice" Tokyo prostitute.
[*]Dancer in the Dark [R3] I like Bjork but this was boring and I hate musicals. Although for a musical I would say it's the best one I've watched.

[*]Austin Powers [R1] Shaggedelic Man
[*]Blade Runner [R3] Another one of my top favorites. Some classic lines in this movie.

I find this hard to believe since George Lucas was so p***ed off by the failure of the Div-X in the US (In your face, George! Who'd be stupid enough to buy a pay per view DVD anyway???) that he is currently refusing to produce DVD versions of his old movies (this is also why there is currently no Star Wars Trilogy available for episodes IV->VI).
Also, I have to remind you that you are not supposed to do anything here that will infringe the copyright policy of DVD movies and that, due to the free speech nature of this forum, the forum administrators hold no responsability for the content of member's posts...

>NIL,
Just because they haven't been released by the studios doesn't mean they're not available.
Actually I had the two first releases of Star Wars on DVD. I was very amazed by the quality too. They were the same quality as any DVD I would normally buy.
Your statement must apply to patching copyrighted firmware too

Hi, i'm not giving my whole collection, because I don't know it from here, but there is one Special DVD that i've got. Actually, it's still a DVD, but on 5 cd's and only working from my HD. It's Lord of the rings. It's not a legal cd, because it's still a testing DVD

Hi - I'm kinda new to this DVD thing (just got an LG combo drive last week) so I only have one DVD in my collection as of today: Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 1 (R1).
I have though ordered two more DVDs online: Terminator 2: The Ultimate Edition R1 (because it's fully loaded with extras) and M*A*S*H season 1 R1 (because I loved that show!).
Next up on my list: Buffy season 2, the Sound of Music, and (the apparent favorite of most DVD fans) the Matrix!

Well, I guess I must be sicker than anybody here. I have over 1,200 unique DVDs. I do collect them. There's only been a few that I sold - really stupid ones like:
Proof of Life
End of Days
Art of War
etc.
I also do go to Kazaa to download new movies. Because here in the South of France, they don't show the latest American movies and if they do, they hardly show them in VO (Version Original). I don't feel bad when I download (lousy quality anyway) the latest movies like Lilo, Minority Report because I buy them anyway when they come out on DVD. I just don't wanna miss out on the fun and certainly would not pay for an airline ticket to go to New York just to watch these movies.

I can understand that.
Especially when movies like "Minority Report" is released in France 3 months after the UK/Ireland release. This has got to stop!!! And if it means tirelessly circumventing what the MPAA would like to enforce, that's what we will do.
Can't tell you how glad I am to live in Ireland. Plus, I have unlimited cinema and live very close to a big movie complex (I'm just one of these lucky bastards!). And as I share your opinion about dubbed movies. If you're French, never EVER watch the French dubbed version of "Fearless" or it will kill any chance you have to realize that the movie is in fact a masterpiece!!!.
