I'd really appreciate if someone could patch a firmware for my TssTcorp TS-U633J drive.
Drive came integrated with my msi x460dx laptop

Information
- I would like an RPC1 firmware

- Original firmware at http://files.rpc1.org/index.php?act=view&id=5790

- not supported on MCSE Utility yet. However, I've seen a thread here viewtopic.php?f=12&t=45727#p222991 where some kind volunteer provided a firmware for TssTcorp TS-U633A. So I hope that someone could help me and other owners of this model without too much hassle.

Has anyone been successfull in patching this DVD drive? I'm surprised that MSCE tool supports so many similar drives but not this one... is there any better way to request for help? Posting here didn't seem very effective so I'm not sure how to go next
thanks

The linked firmware is NOT for your drive.

Ooops. Sorry chef, my bad. I got confused about revisions, versions, and other terminology.

I've searched the net and I can't find any link to the original firmware with revision TM00. So here my questions:

    - If I did find it (let's say via MSI support or some other way), could that help somehow?
    - In case I'm able to find one (most likely the case), is there anyway that I could create a dump of the firmware?
    - Do I have any other options?
Thanks a bunch

This is really an ATAPI drive, not SATA maybe??

I could only find "TS-U633J Samsung Computer firmware SC00" which is already in our database.
But you really need some TM* firmware for your drive in the MSI Laptop.
In case you can find an update, extracting the firmware from it shouldnt be the problem.
Even without magic one could manage to prepare the flasher to flash the extracted and/or patched firmware later.
Only option left is really to use something like AnyDVD to make the drive regionfree.

PS: there is also one from DELL, see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44603&start=25

I'm not sure whether I understand the terminology correctly. The drive is indeed SATA. This is a more-or-less recent laptop, from August 2011. BIOS reports the drive as SATA. I don't know why the name is TssTCorp TS-U633J ATAPI, because it is SATA. Is there any other tool that I can use to check this? I have both Windows and Linux installed, if that helps.

I was doing some research and I can't find a TM* firmware. Any chance that I could extract the firmware from the drive itself? I do not need to go strictly region 0. As long as I can reset my region-change counter I'm happy.

I would check on the msi sites what drive is really in your computer.

Thanks chef for your ideas. I've searched a bit for firmwares and additional info on msi's website, but there isn't really much worth. Their webside http://www.msi.com/product/nb/X460DX.ht ... cification doesn't say much. Just "DVD Super Multi".

hwinfo on linux reports

The output from discinfo was provided in my first post. Laptop was released in August 2011. It must be SATA, but unfortunately I can't find a flashable TM* firmware.

Is there any way that I can get the firmware as a dump from the drive? I'm running out of ideas, besides getting an external USB drive...
thanks

Yes, the info looks like SATA and nothing else.

Problem is to find an update that fits your drive....
