Hi ALL
Sorry but I am a bit stuck here ... my Pioneer R109 DVD has version 1.17 FW which I am trying to upgrade to 1.58 I have done this kind of thing before using other DVD Manufactered makes, but I am getting no where fast with this device....
I am running windows XP and am trying to flash within the windows environment ( NOT DOS ) I dowmloaded R109_FW158EU extracted the 3 files I needed .. then downloaded DVRFlash v2.1 Then I ID my DVD Drive using DVRFlash then ran cmd from windows typed in the following below as per the instructions DVRFlash -vf I: R9100009.158 R9100109.158 and nothing happens I: being my Pioneer drive letter
Does DVRFlash need to be in a particular location or are the R109_FW158EU files not where DVRFlash can see them ?? all are in a folder on my desktop ? no place does it say that they need to be in a particular place
Sorry about this - I feel a bit silly as I do know a bit abot PC's i.e installing/Flashing/upgrading etc but this one has got me stumped .. do I need to burn those 3 R109_FW158EU files to a CD and put that in the Pioneer drive ?
Any help would really be appriciated
Thanks

Do you mean just double click/run R109_FW158EU instead of extracting the 3 files ??

Nothing at all happens ...
Am wondering should the R109_FW158EU package be unzipped i.e the 3 files within the same folder as the DVRFlash ??
The win32 folder that contains the DVRFlash file also has a file called .DS_Store .. what does that do ?? should that be used or do you think that might be corrupted

OK your version is much newer than mine but it still made no difference
This is what I am doing
Going into the cmd prompt which displays below
C:\Documents and Settings\Dxxxx & Sxxxx>
Then I am adding to that line to produce C:\Documents and Settings\Dxxxx & Sxxxxx>DVRFlash -f H: R9100009.158 R9100109.158 Enter that and all I get is the output I posted ??
All the FW files and the DRVFlasher are in the same folder on my computer yet I can not see why this will not work ... could it be my Pioneer Drive ??

Region free advice is understood thanks
This may or may not answer why I had so much trouble flashing this drive but here goes
I took out my old Hitachi DVD drive and put the above one in its place ...
As I started the flashing process I also wanted to send a quick email, but while doing so windows detected a hardware change and asked me to re-activate .. I did so with my XP disc then the system asked me to re-boot as changes would only take place once I re-booted.
But I carried on trying to flash my drive without the re-boot .. then my troubles started
This may just be coincidental then again it might explain it ??
Again thank you Chef .. its been a long time since I contacted you and once again you have been very generous and helpful as always
Kind Regards
Corrie

Good morning
I decided to perform a speed test on both my DVD drives with interesting results from the Pioneer the Sony did performed well
The Pioneer failed its speed test according to Nero, should the graph worry me ?? or are there other utilities that will test this drive better ?? the tool is a bit old now and might not be up to scratch.
I have put up some .png files to help explain what is going on

You could use alas MCSE http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/ to make it RPC1, remove riplock and enable Bitsetting etc. for your DVR-109. The problem with reading the DVD+RW (your screenshot) looks like a media quality problem to me.
