I have an issue with a UJ-845-C. All spec sites show that it should be able to burn with at least twice the speed. So I looked online for an update, and found Apple did indeed come out with an update (SuperDrive firmware update 2.0) that claims to fix speed issues. Problem is, that this requires a Mac with either a G4 or G5 processor. I have no access to that old of a mac. I have two macbook pro's with intel processors I can use, Windows PC's, as well as Linux PC's, but not Mac G4/G5.
Is there any way at all I can flash the new firmware to it? I've been searching for a long time (around 7-8 hours now) and have only found the official mac one, and an RPC1 modded file here on the forums. Problem is, the modded file is based off of the official mac app file and doesn't run on the intel macs.

With crappy matshita drives there are issues all the time if you dont use TY or Verbatim media, that is the rule!
