I just got the new BDR-200 for my PopcornHour C-200 http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/index.php?pluginoption=catalog&mainItemId=27
The drive is a Hitachi/LG one that I can't find a firmware for.
I'm looking for three things and I hope that somebody here can help.
1. RPC1 would be fantastic, but RPC2 could also work... :D
2. Also the drive is a bit noisy. I'm not sure but it sounds like it's spinning at more than 1x. Since the drive is only used in the NMT for playing DVD's/BD's it would be nice if the speed of the drive could be limited. Is this possible?
3. I'm thinking that I should be able to do a RPC2 firmware with MediaCodeSpeedEdit if anybody has an original firmware. Is this correct? If so, then the original firmware would also be great... :D

I'm more than willing to use my drive as a test, if it's needed and can help in any way.

Thanks in advance

Tried to dump the firmware with devilsclaw's tool but no go.
Are there any other tool out there that can do the job?

Thanks for the reply.
Do you know if it will be possible to do a RPC2 autoreset if/when a new factory firmware is released now that it's a BD drive?
And does anybody know how I can check if it's possible to cross flash this drive? I'm willing to risk the drive, but have no idea how to start.

Thanks

Devilsclaw's flasher works fine with BluRay drives ... the problem in this case is I suspect, that the drive uses a Panasonic chipset rather than a Renesas one. As far as I know CT2x drives (tray load) use a Panasonic chipset so very likely the CA2x drives (slot load) also use a Panasonic chipset ...

If that's the case, there's no way to dump the firmware from the drive and it is a matter of having to wait until a CA2x OEM firmware is released ... Firmware AS02 would suggest an ASUS OEM firmware ...

jblaabjerg, if Flasher gives you an error message along the lines of 'no pattern found' then that will suggest a Panasonic chipset drive ...

As for crossflashing, there's no way you can do that at the moment since as far as I can tell, there are no CA2x firmwares released/available at all.
