Dear friends,

I'm using the LiteOn iHBS-212 BD / DVD combo drive with the firmware version 5L08. As we all know LiteOn started scrambling their latest firmware releases. So, I used the FlashUtility 6.01 from the Codeguys (God bless you, Codeguys! Thank you very much again for this great tool! =D> ).
The tool extracted 5L08.bin absolutely flawlessly and then I tried to use MCSE 1.2.0.9 to set RPC1 which didn't work as the checkboxes were greyed out. Then I tried to use Codeguys' Settings Utility 1.2.1, but that didn't do it, either. The tool says something like "Sorry, setting the drive to RPC1 isn't possible". :(

So, what am I doing wrong? Or is this all just due to an unsupported drive / firmware? Aren't there other iHBS-212 users around experiencing the same problems?

Any help / hint is highly appreciated! Thank you!

Cheers,

Rory

Who told you that you could gain rpc-1 on a BD drive that easily?

I am looking for DVD-R for Authoring DVD-R (A) & HD-DVD media, any size, any brand. Please pm me if you can help. \:D/

That is a very good question! Probably that has been my own ignorance, truely a bad advisor...

No, honestly, I am very new to BD technology. I've still been using DVDs until last week. Now, it's kind of difficult to figure out the differences. So, RPC1 on a BD drive is kind of a fiddly job, isn't it? So, there is no (easy) way of patching the iHBS-212?

Cheers,

Rory

AFAIK, until now the BD part cannot be patched, the DVD part could be.
Seems that the drive is not supported by MCSE yet.

Probably most owners of bd drives are using anydvd hd and similar tools....

Yes, I was talking about the DVD part, not the BD part. And I am using anydvd hd as well, but I'm afraid that the DVD region counter in the LiteOn firmware will lock up one day when I continue to switch between region code 1 and region code 2 DVDs inserted into that drive. So for now, I am using a seperate DVD-ROM drive that is RPC1 patched for reading DVDs from different regions.

Cheers,

Rory
