Well, after flashing to a Samsung SN-S083N and patching it as described, drive was identified as this. Burning was no Problem at all.
But you can not play any DVD, doesn't matter what kind of Region.
Any advise?
Cheers

If a drive can burn a dvd then its inevitable that it also can play a dvd.
If not, then either some 3rd party drivers are wrecked or the used dvd is the problem.

Very doubtful that this result is related to updated firmware or patching.

More likely drivers or some 3rd party softwares are the real issue in your case.

Try playing it back with VLC!

Oh, so it seems to be a quirky driver or maybe some hidden rootkit.
Did you run some rootkit scanners, virus scanners etc?

Hi,

sorry for hi-jacking this thread but I am searching for the above mentioned (original) firmware of the hp CDDVDW TS-L633N Firmware 0300.

I cross-flashed my drive with the previously mentioned Samsung firmware, just as a try to fix some kind of DVD media problems with the help of a newer firmware. Well, bad idea as it's really the hardware which is faulty and I didn't notice that I am still covered under my laptop's warranty. So in order to return my drive to HP I need the original TS-L633N firmware.

Can anybody please provide help?

Cheers,
Invisible1871

True, bad idea.

But please post a Discinfo output for us.

I know, I know... :( I opened a new thread with DiscInfo and other gathered info as this is not really related to the RPC1 firmware anymore: http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=47718

Okay, I gtot it sorted out. I forgot to use the -nocheck command line tag on the flasher. Once I used that, I was able to re-flash. I was not able to load the SN-S083N firmware because.... I am a moron. It was late and I didn't catch that my drive is a TS-L633M... M suffix... not N suffix. Which explains why the attempt to flash the SN-083N firmware did not work. I was able to flash the most recent firmware for the TS-L633M which I downloaded from the Samsungodd.com site and all it well again. =D>

I normally am more careful. But late on a Friday night, all bets are off... I just didn't catch the simplest of anomalies-- that the suffix on my drive is an "M" and the suffix for the firmware referenced in this thread is an "N" #-o

Close call. Lesson learned!

I got through step 5 no problem. I am having trouble with step 6 of cvs's instructions. What exactly do you have to put in the command prompt. I can't get the tsdnwin.exe to run unless I just click on the icon, but then I can't do it with the -nocheck parameter. Any suggestions would be welcome. I admit, I am very out of practice with DOS commands.

cvs clearly stated to use the command line/ shell!!

Thanks for your response. Sorry I wasn't very clear. I can open the command prompt, and I can type in the line: tsdnwin -nocheck, the problem is nothing happens. I didn't know if I am missing something when I type it in or what. It tells me that is a command that is not recognized. I did a directory search for .exe programs and the tsdnwin.exe doesn't show up even though it is sitting on my desktop. Any further help is appreciated.

Whats on your dektop is just a shortcut.
Clock properties, find out where the .exe is and change dir in the command line to that folder.

If I go to properties and it says under location: "C:\users\in8\desktop" So then what exactly do I type into the command line for that to work? I am a relative newcomer to command prompt work.

That is just the location for the shortcut itself, not the proper link to the program to where it links.

Look under shortcut, then target.
