I just bought a Liteon iHAP322 9 DVD drive and want to prevent it limiting the number of region changes. I have DVD Region Killer running, so an RPC1 firmware would solve the problem. Fully unlocked would be even better.

The drive came with 6L1F firmware, but that would not play DVDs (would start but then immediately stop again), so I had to upgrade to 6L1H (from Rapidshare.com) which works just fine. So the 6L1B firmware in the database doesn't work (I have tried it).

Here's my details below. Thanks for your help.

You can use either one of the following tools to make your drive RPC1:

- LtnRPC Tool (http://dhc014.rpc1.org/LtnRPC/)
- Settings Utility (http://codeguys.rpc1.org/utilities.html)
- EEPROM Utility (http://codeguys.rpc1.org/utilities.html)

There are other similar tools as well.

Thanks very much for that. I Disabled using LtnPRC and got the "PRC Work Disabled" message. But when I check using the EEPROM Utility, it still says the drive is RPC2. When I use the Utility to set the drive to RPC1, it gives the error message "Sorry the region control for this drive could not be set to RPC1". Is this OK? I mean is the drive now region free (with DVD Region Killer running in background).

Thanks again.

disable DVD Region Killer. Then check again. discinfo is a simple uitlity to check drive status.

That worked great! It is now showing the drive as RPC1. I assume that I will still need to have Region Killer running in the background when using the DVD drive. Is this correct?

Sorry about all the basic questions, but I am a bit of a newbie about this stuff. Thanks very much for your help.

yes when you want to use the drive for movie purposes, you need it enabled.
