Hi,
my current firmware is CX16. My system is Vista 32bit. I want to switch to Linux. The computer is a Fujitsu Siemens Xa2529. The computer boots up, unfortunately, not from CD / DVD, so I am looking for a new firmware for
the LiteOn Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P (DVD drive / burner)

So, that is the only issue you see with your drive hence the request??

Usually the BIOS/system does give you the opportunity to enable the option to boot up from another device/drive and also gives you a clue to hit eg. F2 or another key to select your booting drive during the POST.
