AFAIK, there are a few matshita drives that indeed work with AnyDVD, contrary the the well-spread knowledge that AnyDVD etc. always refuses to do so. But probably that is all well OT here.

The model number makes me think it's a Matshita, but the MatshitaWinDump utility complains stating it doesn't look like one and doesn't proceed. The support site is here but there is no drive firmware available: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=au&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4207217#N3883DiscInfo output is: DISCINFO VERSION : 1.7.0 BETA.12 VENDOR : hp MODEL : DVD RAM UJ897 REVISION : 1.00 VENDOR SPECIFIC : 910290000000 LOADING MECHANISM : Caddy SERIAL NUMBER : (*removed*) NUMBER VOL. Hi, I read a post half a year ago where someone asked "any chance for UJ-2xx Blu-ray drives support?". I wanted to ask if there is any chance today? I have a Sony Vaio Laptop (VPCF11C5E); OS Windwos 7 Pro and MATSHITA BD-MLT UJ240AS 1.10. My Region code is 2 and I have 0 changes left Thanks for any help. Florian

I just wanted to say thanks for the modified version which worked perfectly. My HP Envy 14 (with beats audio) now has a region free RPC1 DVD drive. If anyone else has the same laptop & needs it msg me or ala42 for the modified MatshitaWinDump tool. Regards, Shane.

are you using a 64bit windows? x86. Can try BIOS trick later, if you think it's relevant.

and the windump file is attached.
Further since I am a programmer / engineer (electrical) I would like to participate if I could in doing some of the firmware upgrades etc. I would need details and links to toolsets. I do know assembler as well as C and other language etc. If I could get advice I would like to help. I really dislike having region control it is a real pain in the a***.
I had to use rar file format since i could not get a zip file to be under 2 MB sorry. winRar is free and there is a mac version as well that is free
I tried to upload the dat file and I get this Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.
so if you have somewhere I can upload this to let me know Thank you

Also if we had a better place to upload the dat files to that would be great since the BB says it has exceeded the quota. Also if you have source code for the utils and how to go about making the dumper/ flasher I could maybe get my firmware to flash on my own. question is where do they hide the region encoding etc. I have some idea on where to search for that but it would be help ful if I built on work already done
