AFAIK, there are a few matshita drives that indeed work with AnyDVD, contrary the the well-spread knowledge that AnyDVD etc. always refuses to do so. ;)

But probably that is all well OT here.

The model number makes me think it's a Matshita, but the MatshitaWinDump utility complains stating it doesn't look like one and doesn't proceed. The support site is here but there is no drive firmware available: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=au&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4207217#N3883

Hi,
I read a post half a year ago where someone asked "any chance for UJ-2xx Blu-ray drives support?". I wanted to ask if there is any chance today?
I have a Sony Vaio Laptop (VPCF11C5E); OS Windwos 7 Pro and MATSHITA BD-MLT UJ240AS 1.10. My Region code is 2 and I have 0 changes left

Thanks for any help.

It has all info I need. The tool searches of the "Matshita" string in the drive id, you drive has "hp" in the drive id. I will send you a modified version later.

I just wanted to say thanks for the modified version which worked perfectly. My HP Envy 14 (with beats audio) now has a region free RPC1 DVD drive.

If anyone else has the same laptop & needs it msg me or ala42 for the modified MatshitaWinDump tool.

Regards,
Shane.

(No disc in drive.)

UAC enabled caused following results:

1) Run as administrator > MatshitaWinDump.bat continually showed an error that dump_matshita.exe could not be found (it is in the directory for sure). I had to run a cmd window as administrator, cd to the directory with the bat + exe files, and then invoke the bat by command line.

2) The flash hung for 2-3 minutes, then failed as below:

Code:
Windows flasher for Matshita DVD drives V1.01 by ala42, based on ben11's simple_

You have selected the file
   "C:\Users\...\Desktop\MatshitaWinDump_1.02\MATSHITADVD-RAM_UJ-844__

to be flashed to your Matshita drive.

Enter the drive letter of the Matshita drive to be flashed: d
You have selected the target drive d

some members are reporting they had to do the following:-

Switching from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS and then using Hiren's BootCD to dump & flash the firmwares.

are you using a 64bit windows?

it depends on the motherboard. Some machines can change and have no issues. Some will refuse to boot. If you get that, just changed it back or try the bootCD.

Further since I am a programmer / engineer (electrical) I would like to participate if I could in doing some of the firmware upgrades etc. I would need details and links to toolsets. I do know assembler as well as C and other language etc. If I could get advice I would like to help. I really dislike having region control it is a real pain in the a***.

I had to use rar file format since i could not get a zip file to be under 2 MB sorry. winRar is free and there is a mac version as well that is free

I tried to upload the dat file and I get this Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.

so if you have somewhere I can upload this to let me know
Thank you

Also if we had a better place to upload the dat files to that would be great since the BB says it has exceeded the quota. Also if you have source code for the utils and how to go about making the dumper/ flasher I could maybe get my firmware to flash on my own. question is where do they hide the region encoding etc. I have some idea on where to search for that but it would be help ful if I built on work already done :-)

Could you please upload the mentioned stuff to a free hoster like mediafire and post the links here?

Thanks!
