probably direct from Japan, if you have connections.
Where are you from?
I may could ask someone who travels a lot between Germany and Japan.

I'm in France. Well honestly, getting it from Japan via a middleman, etc, I think will cost me an eye.
This post is more aimed at users from this forum who could possibly have it in an old computer taking dust.

Why the A09XL and not x15 or x16?

Chef, maybe if your contact can give an estimation, it could help.
About why the DVR-A09, well mainly for nostalgia, i liked this drive, the looks of retail bezel, perfs and upgraded for no good reasons. Currently I have a DVR-112 but the tray is a bit busted so I'd like to go back to A09 now that I have a reason to.

Do you want especially the honeycomb design or more the bezel/front?
Maybe you could grab one (defective) via ebay and replace the front...?!?

For the cool bezel mostly, honeycomb design will end up hidden anyway XD
