Hi Forum!
I got my brand new iMac 27" with a HL-DT-STDVDRW GA32N (KC09). Unfortunately, I could not find a ready-to-use RPC1 firmware in the database. Is there any known progress on this?
DVD Info X: Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVDRW GA32N Firmware: KC09 RPC-2 (region locked) State is NOT SET 4 vendor resets left 5 region changes left No region set
Cheers, Sven

Unfortunately, I can't run the flasher tool: Quote: $ ./flasher -D Devilsclaw's LG Renesas Drive Utility
AVAILABLE DRIVES AND IDs: Drive ID: 1 Name: DVDRW GA32N $ ./flasher -d 1 -f firmware.bin Devilsclaw's LG Renesas Drive Utility cmd_drive: Opening Drive: 1. cmd_flashfirm: Flashing process started cmd_flashfirm: Failed to falloc firmware.bin
$ ./flasher -d 1 -m main_firmware.bin Devilsclaw's LG Renesas Drive Utility cmd_drive: Opening Drive: 1. cmd_dumpmain: Starting dumping process get_firminfo_drive: failed to find pattern cmd_dumpmain: failed to get firmware info
$ ./flasher -d 1 -c core_firmware.bin Devilsclaw's LG Renesas Drive Utility cmd_drive: Opening Drive: 1. cmd_dumpcore: Starting dumping process get_firminfo_drive: failed to find pattern cmd_dumpcore: failed to get firmware info
Tested on Mac OS X 10.6.4 10F2056

you should never attempt to flash and then dump on a mac system. reboot and attempt to dump. it still may not work but it might.

Oops, sorry... my fault. Please ignore the second of that commands. Flashing failed, because the firmware file does not exist. Nevertheless, dumping fails.

I could do that, but I fear the risk of breaking the thin glass of the iMac. Is there any other possibility to get more details of the drive?

I just realized that my Mac mini has the same drive, but an older firmware revision (KC08). I will try to get that one open - should be easier.

I just disassembled the drive and made some photos. I hope this helps. (Sorry, had to split the archive due to high resolution images and zip the files due to upload restrictions.)
