This is it. I flashed the firmware so now I can watch movies from any region. The problem is that right now, I cannot see or use any CD disc. ok?
DVDs, yes CDs, NO
Every CD disc I put on drive, it is not read, it does not work.
The strange CDA file is from a disc with so many files, no music at all.
I'm not wrong. The drive is wrong. I fixed some issue and got another. Thanks.

I had the same problem trying to dump with Windows 7 x64. Switching from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS and then using Hiren's BootCD to dump & flash the firmwares worked for me too! Thank's for the tip about Hiren's BootCD, bugmenot. And much thanks & respect for all the hard work you've put into this program, ala42. My Mat [*Profanity*]a DVD-RAM UJ870BJ is now RPC1 which is awesome because I often travel between 3 different DVD regions.

Hi,
Newbie here. I spent a couple of hours looking at a bunch of posts to try and sort out my firmware issues for my Toshiba Matshita UJ-850S dvd rom drive. I am trying to make it region free and I downloaded the Matshitawindump and the Matshitawinflash and when I got to the Matshitawinflash set I realised I didn't have the firmware to drop in.
I can see in your example you have used the file "UJ-850S_1.05\UJ-850S_1.05_RPC1.dat"
I assume that is the file I need but I cannot find it anywhere.

Hi there
My drive is an Matshita UJ-892AS, in a Sony Vaio VPCZ12Z9E. I guess this should be supported by the WinDump- / WinFlash-Tool. I could dump the firmware and I also could flash the RPC1-Firmware ... DiskInfo-Tool shows (after flash): Firmware: 1.21 Vendor specific: 912140KMEHG95119615 Extra info: none Drive region status: No Lock Detected
But when I insert another Regioncode-DVD, it still get's an error saying that it cannot be played because of a copy protection (similar). I installed AnyDVD, to use it for Region settings, but I'm not really sure, what I have to do in which order to get it going.
Can anybody help me?
Thank you bear
OS: Win 7 Prof 64bit Drive: Matshita UJ-892AS

One member had success by using DVD43

Hi, any update for UJ240as RPC1 firmware? I am trying to use AnyDvD, but when I changed to a different region disc, it tells me need to set the region of the disc for the hardware first. I seems to left 1 chance to fix the drive. ala42 wrote: nekrosoft13 wrote: Ala any chance for UJ-2xx Blu-ray drives support? Yes, but it takes time, as I have to make a new rpc1 patch from scratch.

I can dump the firmware from the BD drives in the mean time, but can not patch it and have not found the RPC code yet. Currently a different project and football have higher priority. Hi ala42: were you able to dump firmware from this Blu-ray drive using the regular dump tool? Or did you discover the correct vendor specific commands for the Blu-ray drives to access their internal address space? Or did you get decoded firmware from this drive in another way? Anyway, are you prepared to share the info? TIA, oxymoron

bugmenot wrote: BUT, finally, Hiren's BootCD to the rescue +1 thanks for the tip. I successfully flashed a UJ840S under Mini XP on an old Toshiba Satellite. Dragging and dropping the .dat onto the .bat didn't launch the flasher under Mini XP (perhaps this was to be expected? I don't know, this was my first time running Mini XP), but it worked just fine from the command line. Ubuntu + libdvdcss + VLC and it's all good. Many thanks to ala42 and all others involved; I'd more or less given up on this drive.

What would you guys do without our one-touch mouse and a gui?? Time to learn to use the commandline.

Hi There I do not think that you can help yet but is there a code or a flash utility for the matshita bd-mlt uj240es to make it region free?
By what I have read so far you are doing excellent work and it is very much appreciated by all.

Chef & Devilsclaw
Yes I did read the 1st post and did see that BD burners are not supported yet and Yes the topic is DVD Writer not BD writer, next time I will word it better.
Do I start a new Thread for Matshita BD-Writers?
All I am trying to find out is that if region free is possible with this drive and if a patch is being worked on by someone with expert knowledge and time to be kind enough to have the interest in doing this.
