Have you tried entering "E" instead of "e"?

yup. tried upper / lower case. safe mode. run as administrator....won't work. I already had success with another Matshita UJ880 external drive -- and that was a cinch. So i think it's specific to the UJ890... what did matshita do differently for this model?

Ladies & Gentlemen, I am still trying to flash the drive of SWMBO. Under Windows 7 I can't switch to "Compatibility Mode" so I am running BartPE now. Took me 500 years to get a version working on an USB Stick as of course CD doesn't work if you want to flash the drive.

I was able to create the firmware images but flashing doesn't work for one simple reason: You need to drag & drop the DAT file on the batch file. But under BartPE's file explorer drag&drop doesn't work. Any way to start process without drag&drop? (sorry, writing simple batch files is already too difficult for me).

Thanks for your help guys!

Hey ala42, just wondering, are you working on a RPC2 flash at the moment? If so, how far along are you? :)

Have you lost your crystal ball?

Are you sure you meant "rpc2 flash" and know what that is...?

You have not even mentioned a specific model!

It would help to know if the firmware dumper works on the drive this firmware is intended for. I have checked it before and it looks like it could work with the dumper, so a feedback from someone having a drive working with this firmware is very welcome.

I can dump the firmware from the BD drives in the mean time, but can not patch it and have not found the RPC code yet. Currently a different project and football have higher priority.

I tried to run this on my vaio but it says the target drive does not exist. the firmware is probably looking for Panasonic not MatSHITa which is the one I have.

Nope, the updater is looking for the correct drive_id/string, and only if it finds exactly that, it will update.

Panasonic IS Matshita IS Matsushita.

Yes, its the largest electronics company in the world after it acquired Sanyo last year. :D Pity as its name applies makes shitty drives. :x

However, the string id must for the firmware above must not match the UJ890 drive on the Vaio.

Thanks anyway, everyone. Its so much easier for me to get a samsung or teac drive and replace it on the vaio. MatSHITa rocks (NOT) !

My son has just bought a Dell M1730 and it has a Matshita DVDRWBD UJ-110 ATA installed and he has lots of Region 2 & 4 DVDs so really need to make it region free. Does this flash/firmware program work for this DVD?

The system runs Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit).

Thanks for your help and support.

Hi there!

I used to live in Europe, and now I'm in Brazil, and I have plenty of European Movies.
Unfortunatelly I can't watch most of them...:(

I'm desperate to find a solution to set regionfree my MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ-141AS that came with my Sony F Series.
Is there any chance for this firmware or an alternative solution to make that happen?

I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

Thanks!
Henry Faiacida

MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ141AS
Firmware Version 1.0
Runs Windows 7 64 Ultimate

Dear Sir,

I have read the first post in this thread, and as far I understood, my device Matshita BD-CMD UJ141AS is not supported.
Because the solution just works for the UJ84 up to UJ89 Series. Which doesn't include my series UJ141.
Am I right?

Chef, please forgive my lack of knowledge in this subject.
I'm trying to get on my own how to break this region stuff, and it seems to be very hard to find a clear explanation about.

As I said before, I have read all this post, and I still don't know if this solution will work for my device.

Will this procedure in this post would work for my device?
Is there any risk if try this procedure?

Thanks!
Faiacida

you have answered your question, yourself. Device not supported. This utility will not work with your drive.

This patch worked with my UJ-841S in a Toshiba Satellite.
Thanks to ala42 and all of those who worked on this project!

greets, I apologize in advance for disturbing this forum's peace with such noob issues.
I just had a uj867s dvdrw drive installed in my xps m1330 by delltech, I'm running vistahmpr 32bits, and eventhough I know my drive is supported after reading the first post in this thread, as I'm about to install win7 ult 64bits in my laptop, and have read of some ussers having troubles under win7, I have to ask under which O.S do you think it'd be better to run the dump and flash programs, under vista32 or after clean installing win7ult 64bits? Also I have daemontools(sptd) and anydvdhd, do I have to uninstall those prior dumping/flashing to prevent system conflicts? ..edit... forgot to ask, as you can see in the screen I've yet to set a region for my drive (region status: none), do I have to set it to one of the regions before dumping/flashing?

thanks for all your hard work =D>

daemon tools is known to cause issues. But you can try dumping first, to see everything goes ok. won't harm the drive. You will need anydvd installed for software bypassing. but can be disabled during the process. Try it on your current set up.

yes indeed, you tend to forget about that issue. Maybe the poster can answer, as he is currently using it. On a side note i see the slysoft team linking to MCSE on there FAQ page
