I am unable to use flasher as when I drag the flasher to applications, after that when i run it, it displays : Last login: Thu Mar 25 00:53:47 on ttys000 Richie-Anurajs-MacBook-Pro:~ Richie$ /Applications/flasher ; exit; logout
[Process completed]
and then when I open terminal and give any command, the terminal says : No such file or directory
please help I want to make my macbook pro dvd region free...!

Its a console application so it needs to be ran from the terminal. 1) Open up the Terminal application that comes with OS X. 2) If you have not already put the flasher into the Application folder/directory 3) In the terminal window type cd /Applications 4) from there use the program as specified in the main topic viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46137

Richie-Anurajs-MacBook-Pro:~ Richie$ cd /applications Richie-Anurajs-MacBook-Pro:applications Richie$ ./flasher -d 1 -f main_firmware_speedpatched.bin Devilsclaw's LG Renesas Drive Utility cmd_drive: Opening Drive: 1. cmd_flashfirm: Flashing process started cmd_flashfirm: Failed to falloc main_firmware_speedpatched.bin

also tell me what happens if I increase read speed in mediacodespeededit.exe application, after uploading my drive's firmware. Is it harmful for the drive or what ?

I seems that the program failed to allocate memory for main_firmware_speedpatched.bin
either the file size is 0 or it could not find the file. is main_firmware_speedpatched.bin in the same directory as the flasher ?

hi,
I have successfully patched my drive's firmware, but i am not sure, whether its patched or not because when I open about this mac link and go to disc burning option, its still showing :
HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS23N:
Firmware Revision: SB03 Interconnect: ATAPI Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive) Cache: 2048 KB Reads DVD: Yes CD-Write: -R, -RW DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO Media: To show the available burn speeds, insert a disc and choose View > Refresh
Please tell me, how can I check this thing. I have verified firmware via this link :
verify firmware on drive from file (might require rebooting before it works) flasher -d [Drive ID] -V firmware.bin

now could you tell me ??? play a dvd from a different region, other than what it is now, restart your system, and the counter should revert back to what it was before. So if you have 5 changes now, you play the DVD, it goes to 4, restart the mac, and it resets back to 5
