Hey everyone

Thanks for dropping by, Ive done a search and had a good read around but I'm still unsure about a few things, hope I didnt miss something

I'm running Windows XP SP3 with a SHS-223B drive. I understand that I have to alter the firmware to run RPC1 with MCSE to make the drive region free but I'm unsure how as the screenshots don't appear to have this setting. The screenshots for MCSE.

If possible would like instructions or hints as I am aware of how I am ruin the whole drive

Thanks already - Kevin

what screenshots?, the website is just an example, extract the contents of the exe you download, and then load the .bin file into MCSE, and then you will see the options

so the drive is a Samsung SH-S22sB with firmware version SB01. I have been able to make new firmware using MSCE and am trying to flash it to the drive

After some more reading, what I have tried is using sfdnwin.exe utltity in normal mode and safe mode. What it says is 'flash cmd fail' I can't use the WinME boot disc as all my partitions are in NTFS.

Does MCSE support removing riplock on the Lite-On iHAS120? I have a Plextor PX-Q840U, which I understand is a rebadged iHAS120 with external case. It's not clear from the ChangeLog what "support" means for a drive.

Thanks for your reply :)

The only one i found from those links was this one :

DVR218CHV

Will that be compatible ?

When i load the firmware into MCSE it says the firmware is for the QSI 241s, which according to the latest release log, is what the Pioneer 218L is a clone of, so i am guessing it will be ok, but i just want to make sure first :)

I bit the bullet and flashed it, and it flashed without any problems :)

I am having another problem though. It says that to add a new media type just select an empty slot for the type (in this case +DL) but there are no empty slots, so i just select a ramdon one that is 2.4x only and press the import button to paste the media info from DVD Identifier.

The media type i am trying to edit is :

Disc ID: UMEDISC-DL1-64

After i import it, all the information is there, but after i press the set button, it looses the "64" bit so the media type is just "UMEDISC-DL1" and when i go to burn on the media using IMGBurn, it says "Supported Write Speeds: 4x" but i want it to be 2.4x only, which is what i selected in MCSE.

I would be very grateful for any help on this, thanks :)

Maybe, but its the only media my release day 360 will play/boot first time, and only if burned at 2.4x speed
