After upgrading to windows 7 (and changing mainboard) im having problems with my LG DVDROM GDR8164B. When installing original games, unir freezes, goes very slow. That didnt happened with XP. Weirdly, if i insert a DVD with photos, videos, etc, its goes fine.. After going to madness seeking a solution, i have think about upgrade firmware..but im newbie in these questions. I have executed discinfo, with this results. Here my DVDROM drive: I have a RW unit, that works fine My questions: 1- Why my DVDROM only gets readspeed 6x?????...its ridiculous..RW unit gets a 40x 2- Do you think upgrading firmware could be a solution? 3- How i must do the upgrade of firmware? Thxs to all.

Quote: Why my DVDROM only gets readspeed 6x?????...its ridiculous..RW unit gets a 40x don't take notice of that quirk in discinfo, if you could get a 40x DVD read, we would all be happy, would advise you get a new drive, think you have the only firmware on it already

The question is, isnt firmware the same, no matter the operative system you have?. I mean, the same unit with the same firmware, can work diferent if you have windows xp or 7?..it hasnt sense for me

[_chef_] wrote: You may ask microsoft, they created w7. Indeed Yesterday, before going to sleep, i execute msconfig and see start programs that are loaded. I quit someones and after restart, 2 of problematic's DVD games, were read without any problem It was late and i have to do more tests but it could be a solution. One of the programs i quit was from start was one of PowerDVD..who knows.. I will test and confirm if works definitely or was another chapter of the weird problem. If i confirm was a software problem, im sorry to give you questions with firmwares.
