How to check what firmware is currently running ?
Using it with a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100
(before I used a UJDA720 Matsushita if I remember well)
the problem is that almost all bootable dvd will not boot (same dvd-r, same dvd-rw)
even if the recovery dvd-rom of Toshiba boots without any problem.
So is it a firmware problem of this combo drive or not ?

Thanks in advance

Your explanation of the problem is not logical.

Please explain it again.

Yes I know that is not logical but it is so.
Which info do you want more ?

The problem is:
- the recovery dvd boots without problem
- the copy (created from Nero with bootable image) of several other
boot dvd-r or dvd-rw do not boot (even if they boot from a desktop pc)
- copies of bootable cd boot without problem
- the test was done with Matsushita and Teac combo cd/dvd drive
So my request is:
- what kind of combo drive should I buy to do not have any problem booting
from dvd from Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 ?
Is there any protection that creates this ?
Should I upgrade firmware and how ?
Or simply all the two drives are faulty ?

Clear or not ?
Regards
Danilo

Buy an external one with USB or Firewire connector.
