Can I use the 217L firmware to patch my DVR-217? Are they compatible?

Successfully flashed DVR-217BK ==> DVR-217L (& got RPC1 using MSCE) ... thanks to everyone involved.
I've been needing this for some time as my daughter (who buys Anime DVDs = region 2, we're region 4) her DVD-RW died and the only replacement at the time was a DVR-217...
Again, thanks PUMA...

Hi!
I have a DVR-117F. Is there a firmware for this drive, what support labelflash, and can write DVD-RAM discs? Or can I crossflash?
Alex

Alex you can have only one or the other at the moment, the 117F is a labelflash drive already without DVDRAM Burning, you can crossflash to a 117, which will get you DVDRAM burning, but you will loose labelflash, downloads in first post

Ok, I assume that the 217(L) stands for labelflash so I am able to re-flash it by default to support bitsetting? Oh crap, I forgot the most essential thing. Since pioneer didn't release the firmware for DVR-217L officially yet. How am I going to flash it since there's no firmware flashing application for the 217?

There is 217F kernel/Firmware in the thread below, to flash you use DVRFlash 2.7.3 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=43868you need to use MCSE to enable the bitsetting feature

So now I am just going to flash the modded firmware to my 217L (not 217F) drive. So is this command line correct ? I am omitting the kernal since no crossflashing is done. dvrflash -f X: S0416431.107

It seems you should carefully read the DVRFlash guides. Sorry, I am a bit lost here by your comment...

Hello I just bought a Pioneer 217D, comes with 1.06 firmware.
I patched S0416431.107 with MSCE and got S0416431_speedpatched.107
Do I have to use the R217.exe to upgrade firmware? Or DVRFlash v2.0?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. if you want to use R217.exe, you need to patch that with MCSE also, tick the same to same flashing box, or you can use DVRFlash, but mot 2.0, use the latest 2.7.3

Thanks. I will download the latest DVRFLASH and will do
DVRFlash -vf D: S0416431_speedpatched.107
Right? I am unsure about the -VF flags, what do they mean?
Thanks a lot. It's been a while since I last did a firmware upgrade. Thanks again.
