@ pixa,
It appears that you have failed to look in the correct place on the LiteOn Web Site for information concerning the LH-20A1P DVD Burner. The below LiteOn Web Site Link provides a download link to Firmware and User Manual for the LH-20A1P DVD Burner ->
http://www.liteonit.com/global/index.ph ... &Itemid=67

Already tried LH-20A1P firmware and it doesnt detect the drive, but thx for ur help =)

This is much to complicated, follow my link below & download the Zip file.
When you launch the firmware don't forget to TICK the UPDATE BOOT CODE box.
Follow the prompts. You will get a few warnings but carry on.

Halow all. Here's the thing, I'm gonna try and keep it short. I've been trying to burn video files to DVD for over 2 years now with no succes whatsoever. It's been frustrating to say the least but I finally came across a program (avi2dvd) which has gone some way to the burning actually getting somewhere. Once I converted the avi to dvd I tried to burn the image to disk using Nero and imgburn but both programs failed displaying a 'power calibration error' message. So I took this previously posted advice shown here... kubantuwhacked wrote: Hey All You can Cross Flash The DH-20A1P to the retail version of this drive which is the LH-20A1P. 1. Download http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/LH-20A1P/firmware/DR20KL0N.zip2. Dowload http://codeguys.rpc1.org/utilities/Flash_Utility-2.0.1.rar3. Follow these instructions http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=190420This is what i did and works PERFECT!! KubantuWHacked Am I right in diagnosing the problem correctly in that it's a firmware problem with my dvd (dh-20ap1) writer? I'm using dshirt dvd-r. I've tried diasbling inapi and blowing on the lens. I'm obviously sceptical about using the flash utility as it's an experimental procedure and I don't want to break my dvdwriter but it's the last thing to try. I will try it if this is indeed what is stopping my burns. So do i need to tick the update code box with the flash utility? Any help much appreciated. Westons (pint) mmm

Bit embarassing really, don't think i'm very good at this malarky Are you saying this dvd writer is a bit snobbish: it wants nothing but the best/most expensive disks? If so, what brands of media would you recommend for it matey?

Also make sure your drive is in UDMA for the drive, check device manager, under ata/atapi controllers

Ah, I own some Verbatim CD-RW's, I'll check out the DVD-R's thanks.
Not sure I understand the last part about the drive. I went into the channel properties under ata/atapi controllers and saw that the transfer mode for each is set to 'DMA if available'. Is this what you mean?

Can't see PIO mentioned anywhere. The primary IDE channels state -
'Device type = Auto detection' 'Transfer mode = DMA if available' 'Current transfer mode = 'Ultra DMA mode 5'
Secondary channels are the same apart from the Current trasfer mode which states 'not applicable'.

Verbatim disks worked a treat, though there is skipping on my Tevion DVD player, however the disks playback fine on a playstation 2. Next step is to invest in a decent DVD player. Thanks again Very happy chappy
