Then youhave to use other RW media.
I even doubt they are recommended for using with your old burner.
Does the 4120 even support burning 6x rated DVD-RW ?

I'm trying the full cancellation of a DVD-RW, but now the process is stuck at 52% and now has given this result.

so try reflashing back and see what happens, nothing to loose, them errors usually are either poor media related, or an issue with the drive

then its hardware issue, maybe the flash has damged the drive, have you tried the usual steps, cleaning it, maybe using tin of compressed air, and directing it inside the drive, also check your cpu usage when you try to erase a disc, also unistall everything under ata/atapi controllers in device manager, restarting. or test in another pc

have you any virtual drive software on your system? also try the drive in another pc, to see if the same issue happens, or drive a completed disc in another drive
