I just bought a Panasonic / matsushita uj 120 blu ray combo drive and have read sony uses these drives as well now the one i bought is an hp model i cant find any support for this with hp can i cross flash it with a sony firmware if so which one would be best? will this work ? http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...=4454&os_id=28Reply With Quote if not what firmware to use?

i got it right here and its braned with the hp logo i am in canada contacted hp canada and they couldnt find any record of the drive

I was just assuming becuase the sticker may say hp that it may be the same as the sony oem version an that firmware would be the same

Many companies are using the uj-120 they are ALL panasonic / Matsushita drives regardless of what is on the sticker. Sony made their flasher work only with sony systems so you cannot use it to crossflash. The flasher would need to be hacked to use their firmware with another UJ-120, it would work as every drive i have seen is electrically identical.
