Hi.

A friend of mine from USA send a DVD-R disc with video to me in Russia via post. She burned disc herself, tested it after burning and it was playable. Unfortunately here I can't play it. I tried to play it on 3 computers and 2 dvd players and same thing happens: dvd drives try to load disc many times and sometimes it gives a message, what disc file system is unknown or disc is incompatible. Dvd players just go into infinite loading.

I've tried to get info about disc status with CDcheck program and it wrote this:
Disc type: 2 (DVD-R)
Information cannot be retrieved!
ILLEGAL REQUEST - invalid field in command packet (Sense: 05 24 00)

I've tried to recover disc data with same program and it couldn't recover anything, just gave error what file system is unknown or disc is incompatible.
In my computer folder, disc appers to have size of 0 byte and file system is RAW. In Nero InfoTool disc have size 4.78 GB. Physically disc is fine, just one or two minor scratches and that's all.

Is that some kind of problem with disc or it's zone protection ? I tried to find info via google, how will zone protected disc behave, if you'll try to use it with drive or player from another zone, but couldn't find anything. May be you can help me, please ?

My dvd drive is Toshiba SD-M1912 , Win XP.

nothing to do with region protection, either your drive, just cannot handle the disc, or the disc itself has errors on it
