Hi

First time flashing, but cant get my drive to be rpc1. I'm using DVRFlash 2.6 and latest firmware: DVR-216_FW109EU2.EXE. Inside this file contains R216CH.exe and S0015601.109.

post discinfo output from the drive and also the firmware link you used, as the firmware you are using is not correct for the drive

Why should an official firmware be RPC1??
Use MCSE, patch it, then flash it.

No, this files are from the DVR-216CH_FW109EU2.EXE package. Post the output of dvrflash -v f:, so we can see which firmware you need.

you need the next section down for the 216, your drive is not the 216CH one, can confirm when we see the discinfo output

yeah your drive is DVR-216SV/DVR-216BK/DVR-216 section, now you need to use MCSE, to patch it to RPC1, then use DVRFlash, or you can use the pioneer flasher, but you need to patch that as well with MCSE

i've used MCSE to patch it to rpc1, then use DVRFlash. I've received the same message as above.....firmware and drive mismatched?

interesting, download the 216D then, and just run the pioneer update, not DVRFlash, does that allow the flash? if not can you post the details from the label on the drive itself

best way forward is to get the information from the label on the drive, then post it here. or if your not bothered by it, you could crossflash to a S16J, which will give you labelflash also

OMG .....i just realised i've been using the wrong fw...and i tot i downloaded the correct one!! in case you are wondering the label on my drive, its DVR-216BK, different from what i've said earlier, but nevertheless still belong to the same category. Sorry Puma for all these ding dongs, and thx for your great patience!

I am having trouble flashing one of these drives. It is labelled as a DVR-X162, but DiscInfo says it is really a DVR-216. DiscInfo output:

I patched to RPC1 using MCSE running in Windows 7 under VMware Fusion 3 (on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard) and it seemed to run OK, but when I run DVRFlash (natively on Mac or in the VM) I get the following error:



Also, when I try and run the Pioneer flasher with the stock firmware (only possible under the Windows 7 VM) it also reports a similar error ("Available target is not found.")
Any help would be much appreciated

That explains the reason, your drive is DVR-X162, which is why its saying the error, either update it with that specific drive firmware, or use the S16J Firmware/Kernel to crossflash, these are in the database, you would need to use -ff parameter, and also input both filenames in the command, if you get stuck post back.

Thanks guys, worked perfectly cross-flashing to S16J. Now identifies as DVR-216L in DiscInfo. I thought because it was saying DVR-216 in DiscInfo that I should use that...

Thanks to the information I found in this forum I successfully flashed my DVR-216D to 216L today.
Used files: Kernel S0415430.104 , Firmware S0415431.109 (Speedpatched, Region-free, Bitsetting)

LabelFlash: Tested OK

I'm stuck. I've got the S16J zip and in it I find two files:

S0415430.104
S0415431.106

Used MCSE to patch .106 but don't know what to do with .104. Also what flasher do I use? I have the Pioneer flasher for the dvr-212 (UPR12T.exe also patched using MCSE) use that?

Got it - DVRFlash. Now given I'm cross flashing with a kernel and firmware I'll just figure out how to back-up what's in the DVR-X162 first..

You would know! I'll stop looking for a Pioneer firmware back-up tool.

The S16J cross flash appears to have a kernel at 104 and firmware at 106 - is that correct?

I don't find any official Pioneer factory firmware release for the dvr-x162. There is a dvr-x162j 2.10 firmware on the pioneer.co.jp website - unzipping it I don't see a kernel file and MCSE doesn't enable changing to rpc1 or read speed increase for the 210 firmware.

My question then is - once I cross flash S16J kernel and firmware there's no going back - correct?
