I have a Toshiba Satellite 2410 Laptop that originally had a TAC DW-224E-34 (I think 34 is the firmware version)) DVD drive it in, but it stopped reading disc.

so I purchased a TEAC DW-224E-57 (I think 57 is the firmware version) that was originally on an HP computer.

when I installed the new TEAC drive into my Toshiba laptop, at startup it keeps on giving me the IDE Error message and then boots into Windows but the DVD Drive is can not be used.

Can someone please let me know what I can do to get the new drive to work on my Toshiba Laptop.

You need Toshiba OEM firmware on the drive.
