Finally got my DVR-115D flashed from 1.18 to 1.22 but now my Mac Pro aluminum keyboard eject button will not open the tray. Toast ejects, itunes ejects, menu item ejects... Used to work fine with 1.18 firmware. Any ideas what else I can try to fix this? Why would the keyboard button stop working when everything else works? Even the mouse click on startup works! Thanks

Anyone know of a way to downgrade my 1.22 firmware back to 1.18? I see absolutely no advantage to the 1.22 firmware other than the fact that the media eject key on my Apple keyboard will no longer open the tray. I know, this is a great new feature, but I just really want my eject key back!

Interesting and informative post. Not sure if it addresses my issue tho. Pioneer says once the 115D is updated to 1.22 it cannot be downgraded. I am also curious if anyone else has experienced loss of Apple keyboard eject control after updating the 115D to 1.22 - Is this a problem with FW v 1.22 or OS X? I have tried Aluminum and standard keyboards. Other apps such as disk utility, toast and itunes will open the media tray.

Thanks

This is your issue.

yes, we have heard of this apple keyboard issue before, with updating to the 1.22 firmware, so far, no answer has been given, use DVRFlash as ala has posted to, and you will be able to downgrade

OK great - Thanks! Now I have to figure out how to do this. I was originally unable to update on the Mac using DVRflash and so I attached the drive to my PC and ran the updater file, it just worked all by itself.

I have read the linked post above, but I do not understand it fully. I am not a programmer, just a hobbyist. I will re-read it several times and hopefully it will start to make sense. Renaming files and changing codes sounds very difficult and with low success rate to me. Maybe I should just buy another drive with 1.18 already installed.

Thanks for your help. Glad to hear my eject problem is not unique.

i would suggest you use this method:-

Quote:
To keep things as simple as possible, DVRFlash and the firmware file(s) should be side by side in the same folder, whatever it's name or position.
So, put DVRFlash and the firmware file{s) in one folder and have that folder's Finder window open.
Start "Terminal". (Double click Terminal's icon, do NOT double click DVRFlash!)
From the Finder window, drag DVRFlash into the terminal window. The complete path to DVRFlash will appear, followed by a space.
Now type "-f PIONEER " without the quotes; mind the spaces before and behind PIONEER.
Drag the firmware file into the terminal window. If you got two files (firmware and kernel), drag them both, one after the other. The path(s) to the firmware file(s) will appear in the term window.
(That way you created a command line with complete pathes, that works, no matter where all your files are.)
NOW press the Return key to start it all and it should work

I did as you suggested - Terminal says "invalid pioneer firmware" - I have been through this before, with 1.18 and then 1.22. DVRflash never seems to work for me. Also, as I mentioned in a previous post, pioneer says this DVR cannot be downgraded once 1.22 is installed.

I am using this FW file - DVR115D_FW118EU2.EXE

This is a selfextracting zip file. Unpack it and use the resulting A0814001.118 file.

Awesome! It worked! FW version now says 1.18, but eject key still will not open DVD tray. I have restarted the computer. Any ideas why the tray will not open? I thought it stopped working when I upgraded to 1.22 and therefore assumed that reverting back to 1.18 would solve the problem.

Thanks for your help... I now understand how to use DVRflash... I was not extracting the files from the .exe file!!

It's been a few months now, and I believe that my revert to 1.18 is in fact still at 1.22... even tho firmware shows as 1.18
The drive still has all sorts of problems. It alternates from super high-speed to a dead stop, and makes a clicking sound ( sort of like changing gears) as it comes to a complete stop... then spins up to full speed and repeats endlessly. Burns take forever to complete, yet restarting the computer does help and I am usually able to get atleast 3 normal, fast, smooth burns before the problem begins again. None of this happened before 1.22 and after reverting to 1.18 the problem remains. I will get a great thrill from taking a large hammer to this thing once Pioneer finally releases a decent drive. I understand the 116 and 117 are a complete waste of money. Wish I could find a new, virgin 115!!!!!!

If the drive shows fw 1.18 then it has 1.18.

If this is true, then something is wrong with the drive because it never did the weird speed changing thing until after I updated to 1.22. Either way it is not working properly and I will replace it soon. For now, I am mostly using the DVR-112, which still works perfectly and is almost as fast.

Did you ever find a fix for this problem? I have an old 115D as well, and the eject key on my G5 has stopped working after an upgrade to osx 10.5.
Any ideas?
