Hi, I'm obviously new to the world of firmware, I have a couple of questions, and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

The first: Is it true that the MPAA is setting most of their new DVDs to not work on region-free players?

The Second: I'm trying to change the region of my Plextor PX-504A (It's a DVDR). I tried looking through the forums, and doing searches, but I couldn't find anything. However, I'm not sure if I looked in the right places, and that's why I'm asking here, and not in the firmware request page - the firmware might be out, and I just can't find it.

Lastly, is there anywhere I can go to learn more about firmware in general? It kind of stymies me right now, and I get lost pretty easily.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The MPAA does produce DVDs???

2. Region change? Don't you mean regioncode free?

Ahahah, well, I'm not exactly sure what the situation is. I just read something to the effect of "dvds are being regioncode free protected due to the MPAA". Not sure how reputable the source is, which is why I ask here.

That would be amazing too. Either way would be fantastic. I'm just trying to watch region 2 DVDs, and my Player is Region 1 locked
