First of all I'm sorry that I thread-jacked the Toshiba Flash... thread. I'm still new here and that was my first post ever in this forum. The reason I'm asking about firmware for my Toshiba XM-1402B is that I remember seeing firmware downloads for the Toshiba XM-1602B & XM-1802B CD-ROM drives so I was just wondering if there's an updated firmware download for my drive too. I also have a very good reason for looking for a firmware update for my Toshiba XM-6002B: I have a Deskpro 6000/6200 that had the drive in it at the time & it triggered a weird Event ID in my Event Viewer.

I looked up the Event ID code in MS's Knowledge Base & found an article that says I need to contact MS's phone Tech Support to have them send me a patch that fixes the issue. I was wondering if maybe the drive just needed a firmware update instead. I have tried newer drives in that PC but it seems to have some major compatibility issues with newer CD-ROM/CD-RW drives. I have already installed the latest BIOS update over the one it already had but I had to use the GUI BIOS disks that look like Windows 3.11 to fix the IRQ conflicts. The Deskpro 6000/6200 has a 686G motherboard in case anyone's curious.

Its doubtful if such an old CD-ROM drive is even flashable or ever got an update released!
