Hi there,
I have recently purchased a GDR-8163B With the firmware 0F21. This firmware is no good to me as it does not support rawdump which it was intended for. I have been looking back and fourth to find out if i can Flash the firmware from 0F21 to
either a

OB**
OD**
OL**

The only firmware flash i could use was for the 0f21, without knowing a great deal about the subject. I believe i flashed the previous firmware with the same firmware 8-) .

From what i have gathered, Some have said it can be done someway, allthough i have also been told you cannot cross firmwares over.
Apologies if i have made any noob like errors in missing a thread or information that will answer my question, i have been genuinely looking, (most probably in the wrong direction) or just being plain clueless!

Could anyone with a greater knowledge either tell me THERE IS HOPE! or GAME OVER! Then i can either refine my search or stop chasing a hopeless cause.

Thanks all
Parkey.

My google autocomplete is bleeding with 8163B combinations. I think i have a rare version of the 8163B which is very much not talked about, either that, or as i say, i have not got a clue.

In response to your follow up, (which was very fast, so thanks) Is that a, THERE IS HOPE, your just not looking in the right places? or do you not know if it can be done ?

Thanks
P

0F21 is a known firmware, we host the RPC1 version, use the forum search, will give you an idea of what members of crossflashed too, and also what problems that could happen

It is a firmware question,

I just need to know if i can apply any other firmware e.g OB** OD** etc to my DVD drive, which is currently 0F21.

All of the firmware flashers in windows tell me i cannot use the firmware flash with my device.

That is simply because official flashers doesnt allow crossflashing. ;)

I have searched and read the posts. I may have overlooked something, but that is due to my lack of experience and knowledge on the topic.
I have downloaded the FWFlash files from TDB site, but could not flash it, I'm going to try and have a look through now for general crossflashing, as maybe i am looking for a post that cannot be found with the reference 8163B.

basically you should keep the firmware you have, you would need to modify the flashers, to allow this, and even then, you may encounter issues
