I have been trying to make my two pioneer dvd drives, dvr-115d region free. At the moment they are on region four. I tried useing dvrflash, said it worked, but when I rebooted my computer one had 0 changes left and the other only one left. I flashed the firmware from this site from version 1.13 to 1.18. I then tried (after reading the forum here about this drive 115d) MCSE and although I think I undersand what to do, I don't fully understand what the flasher is? When I started MSCE, and loaded the downloaded firmware file, (Only one appeared), and the RPC1 box was greyed out. Can someone please help.
I also noted reading the other forum that at the bottom of it Puma wrote (patching the drive is half the job, you also need to bypass player/windows restrictions with software, unfortunately its the way it is) Can someone please explain what this means. and help me out also, as the more I read the more I get confussed and am now wondering is I have done any damage to my two dvd drives.
Thanks in anticipation

post discinfo output here, so we can see the info, did you use the 115D firmware from the firmware/kernel thread?

Hi there,

Sorry but I don't know how to get discinfo output, and the firmware that I used was from the downloaded file from this site called dvr115d.zip, which when I used winzip gave me two files called, a0814000.113 and a0814001.118. Are these what you called firmware/kernel thread? The firmware has change from ver. 1.13 to ver. 1.18 when I checked in the drives properties before and after I done this, but this was done before I attempted to do the region free part using dvrflash and then mcse.

thanks alot

that firmware was already patched to RPC1 by liggy, so the drive should be rpc1 now, we need to discinfo output to see, just run the program, either post the screenshot or the output

Hi again,
Is this what you want, as you can see, it says that the drives are rpc-1, but when I play a disc that is not region four it wants to change the drive to another region

Device parameter was not given, detecting all DVR drives:

Device : H:
Vendor : PIONEER
Model : DVD-RW DVR-115D
Revision : 1.18

Status : RPC-1 (region free)

Device : I:
Vendor : PIONEER
Model : DVD-RW DVR-115D
Revision : 1.18

Status : RPC-1 (region free)

Now run DVRFlash again, from the command prompt, using
one of the device(s) listed above as first parameter

Press the Return key to exit

wants to change the software, you need software like dvd region killer or anydvd, this is to bypass windows and player restrictions, remember patching the drive is only half the job

Thanks

when you use these, they change region, you have a limited number of changes, just like the drive, once say powerdvd has used all its changes, it will lock the software to the last region, that is why you need software to stop this, dvd region killer is free
