Firmware to reduce the speed on a Toshiba 1912 DVD-ROM?

People,
I've put a new Toshiba 1912 DVD-ROM in my sampo settop DVD player after flashing it to make it RPC-1, but I'm finding it's extremely noisy (it spins incredibly fast on all commercial DVDs, it's silent only on my DVD-Rs).
Do you guys know if there's a slowed-down version of the firmware, or if there's a tool I could use to slow the drive down on my standalone?

I have the same problem with my dvd-player. Can i get this frimware too?

so does this mean there won't be a updated and fixed FW for Toshiba SD-R1712C (the rpc1 FW with CSS problems)?
