Hi!

New to the forum! Great one, ive been using it since it was called firmware.st..

I recently imported the GGC-H20N (japanese version of ggw i assume).

It prompted me the other day to upgrade firmware to 1.02. I accepted.
It said update failure, please check website for manual update information.
Problem is i cannot find it!!
The LG ODD auto updater says i have a GGC-H20N Version = COR4, and reading about COR4 it seems to be in some type of emergency mode?
I cannot update to 1.02 anymore and i cannot find 1.01 to download anywhere.

Any hints or ideas are appreciated, i assume i must update it in dos mode? But how.. When i cant find any info about this..

Could it be vista who made this?

I have screendumps of both the COR4 and the DriveUpdater "Updating was failed. Please repeat that." Error data = 00 00 00 , bunch of zeroes.

Thanks again for a great forum for those in need.

Hi and welcome to RPC1.

I found both versions and uploaded them...

LG GGC-H20N 1.01 Image

LG GGC-H20N 1.02 Image

Quote:
To update the firmware of the GGC-H20N please refer to the following instructions:

Note: Not following the subsequent update instructions explicitly will result in
permanent damage to your drive, for which LG will not be responsible.

This firmware update is for drives with original firmware versions below 1.01.
The drives must be original LG branded drives with the SMB model number GGC-H20N(no OEM units).

If you have an OEM unit, branded with another manufacturers name,
please contact that manufacturer for support and firmware updates.

This firmware update is for use only on PC

Hi daniel.eriksson,

Yup, your drive is luckily in recovery / safe mode (for that is COR4 as current firmware version),
but something (maybe your system configuration or broken data cable / connection) prevents update your drive F/W correctly...

Just try firmware update thru Windows Safe mode,
If you have computer with SATA controller try disable AHCI mode or enable Legacy ATA mode in BIOS Setup, check also drive cable,
or try it update in another computer.

Good Luck!

Yup, SAFE MODE should hopefully work.

It is in failsafe mode and requires proper re-flashing.
So trying to flash it on a different controller is a very good idea.
