I searched this forum but found nothing... Is there an rpc-1 for the Matshita UJ-857G?

My laptop is a dell xps m1330, not a macbook, and the drive is a UJ-857G, which isn't mentioned in that thread. Does this matter?

There is no rpc-1 firmware (yet) for my drive, right?

I too have a Dell m1330 laptop with the Matshita DVD+-RW UJ-857G with firmware Z111. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help speed the development of a rpc-1 firmware for this drive. Thanks!

This is a sticky thread in the REQUEST section.

If you post here, then at least include the info necessary for any post in the REQUEST section or your post gets deleted.

If you have an XPS m1330 with the matsushita drive, your only option is to get it replaced with the LG alternative (GSA-S10N). There is an autoreset option for this drive (see it in the request forum thread for this drive).

You can try and convince Dell to replace the drive because it's non-functional (arguable) or you can just buy the replacement. It's $110. Call the parts line and ask for a wx660. That's their part number for it.

Hey there,
I urgently need a patched firmware for my "crappy" DVD-RAM notebook driver MATSHITA UJ-860S 1.00.
Please, can anyone help me as this drive is locked to region 2 + rip-locked and I'd like to watch region 1 and 4 DVDs as well on my notebook.
Thanks and cheers

read the FAQ, for links to available RPC1, and the rules do not crosspost

I told you that the support, including firmware update(s), needs to come from Toshiba, because its the manufacturer of your Laptop.

Maybe you could contact the Toshiba ODD support by mail. However, their hands are bound to what Matshita releases/provides...

Which firmware is actually on the drive?
Which firmware you have tried to update with?
Have you tried in SAFE MODE?

What you tried to do is called "crossflashing", and is not supported by any offical tool/flasher.

Hi there!

I have tried to flash the firmware on my mini MATSHITA UJ-846 FM3J and no success.
It seems that Leopard does not want to install I get this message: os x version not compatible. Update os x and try again.

Is there a version out there that works with Leopard?

Thanks for the help.

Wow this thread here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=34010&p=176030&hilit=UJDA330#p176030 is insanely old but its not in the requests forum, however its newer than the search results I find in requests which are from 2004  The link you posted in that newest thread from 2005
dl_firmware.php?download_id=2117 just takes me to the forum index. I need to burn a CD on this Dell pentium III laptop  which it doesn't want to do, and I know the firmware has never been updated so there's a good chance a nice flash will fix things. So hopefully Chef has it on some backup tape deep in his closet underneath his first fishing pole or something.

Hi, you already posted that here.
Please start reading the Matshita FAQ (see my sig) and also the threads regarding firmwares for that manufacturer/drives.
