Hello.
Does someone can make available the Matsushita UJ-835S G100 firmware's on this forum please ?
This 'll be very helpfull, as long as I'm not able to dump the firmware myself, cause this drive is on my brother laptop, and he's not able to do that.
Hopefully ben11 will be relase a RPC1 revision for this drive. I've read that many mac users used this one.
Many thanks !

I have a Matshita UJ-845D with D100 firmware on an Acer laptop. I'm using linux and I tried porting the code but when I issue the 3 cdb commands I get an error response. The ident cb works. So is the drive supposed to return errors for those commands ?

Awesome.
Thanks captainpeter, saved me the trouble.
I think there's quite a few people with finger-crossed.

From the summary post:
Quote: So far, a large sample of firmware revisions for the Matshita drives has been covered here. If you don't find your precise revision, it doesn't mean it can't be done, it mostly means you weren't quick enough.
For instance, no data have been collected for this model (listed by ch-vox on the Powerbook-fr.com website):
Matshita UJ-845 (rev. D100)
I think this particular firmware has never been used in an Apple computer. It has been used in other vendors' laptops however. I'm not sure why ch-vox has listed it as shipped by Apple, perhaps he can elaborate?

That's my feeling too. It took us two or three weeks to collect all the current Apple related firmwares then we didn't get anything new or rare. The D100 must have been very rare or, most likely, a version never used by Apple.

this version has been detected on a french powerbook few months ago. the person who asked me for rpc1 firmware has never mailed me again. but the D100 seems to exist.

Here's the version D100 of the UJ-845 for you.
http://rapidshare.com/files/61047723/ma ... dump-0.dat
I extracted from my G4 Cube but I bought a bulk drive and replace the OEM CD-RW a while ago. So it is not an Apple firmware. D100 does not have any restrictions so I can take the full advantage of the functionality of this drive. See the output from "drutil" command.
Code: % drutil info Vendor Product Rev MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-845S D100
Interconnect: ATAPI SupportLevel: Vendor Supported Profile Path: /Library/DiscRecording/DeviceProfiles/PatchBurn-matshitadvdramuj845s.drprofile Cache: 2048k CD-Write: -R, -RW, BUFE, Test, IndexPts, ISRC DVD-Write: -R, -RAM, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW, BUFE, Test Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Please feel free to use it.
And ben11, congrats for your great achievement! And I'd appreciate it if you can make this firmware region-free.

You should first use the official Apple Superdrive 2.1 Updater. Due to some problems, Apple has removed from its websites but there are copies around here. Your drive will then be updated to HBEA, I guess, and then, you'll be able to make it region free.
Please post in the right threads...

Thank you.
So the process is first change type with their updater and then use the available region free that Ben 11 has done for the change.

OK Re.Black McBook Intel Dou Core 2.0 gb
Downloaded the Apple upgrade for HBE4 to HBEA
Loaded without a hitch
Tested playability. Good.
Burned a short file via Toast.
Ok, but.............dvd would not stop playing after mounting it from Toast.
Dvd player even under force quit would not quit.
This was a dvd+rewrite disc Verbtim
Did a restart. Ejected dvd.
Then used Ben 11 UJ857 HBEA rpc1 firmware
Easily done.
Tested region change with RegionXIntel...Succes
Did a test rip with MTR of a region 2 disc......no problems
Tried the burnt disc again for playback. OK
But after closing dvd player, the dvd unit is spinning . However the disc can be dragged to the trash and ejected.
Tried with another +rw and a -r. Both spinned a bit but stopped about 30 seconds later. Ejected no problem.
Dvd not occur before flashing.
A little quirk somewhere? Let me know if a solution or update at some time.
However very satisfied just to do it even though I use my external Pioneer for most work.
Thanks
Hope this helps some others.

Hi Ben. I've uploaded the firmware at the following address:
http://rapidshare.com/files/61497363/ma ... 0.dat.html
I'm currently using a PB G4 1.5 Alubook. I'm also currently on OS 10.4.8
It would be great if you could get a rpc 1 firmware for this drive as i've all but given up hope.
Thanks in advance,
James.
