Hello,
I own a Pioneer DVR-112D drive for a month now. I've burned lots of dvds and cds with no problems at all, but now i need something more out of my burner.
I've read a lot of threads concerning 112D, but the more i've read more confused i've got. I know admins are sick and tired of same questions about 112D by now, and i am sorry to ask again. Perhaps this thread will clarify things once and for all.
Now i have this Nero info-tool report:
Firmware version: 1.15
Region control: RPC II (this means it isn't region free, right?)
Region code: none
My goals are:
1. To get the auto bit-setting for DVD+R and DVD+R DL. (i'm looking for best compatibility for my music DVD-video collection with any home cinemas) Written media should be recognised as DVD-ROM.
2. DVD-RAM write support.
3. Labelflash support.
4. Region free drive.
5. To have the latest firmware possible in this combination As i undrestand, i can't get a 1.22 (just out) based firmware in my situation yet?
Is my goal - Buffalo 112L 8.21 firmware, edited with MCSE to be RPC1 (region free)?
Please tell me how to achieve this. How to crossflash? Should i flash each version till 8.21, or sthraigh to the latest one? What should i do step by step?
Will i am able to downgrade to, lets say, original fw v1.15 if i need to have warranty?
P.S.
I'm running WinXP, i'll flash in safe mode. The drive is connected throuh 40 pin ide cable.
I always use only Verbatim DVD+R 16x advanced azo+ media.
Thanks in advance,
Ign45

Your correct, the 112 topic is well discussed, maybe using search would have yielded the answers, please try first always.
I will answer as, to get all what you require you need to crossflash the drive in safemode with
8.xx firmware, use the one from TDB'S
http://tdb.rpc1.org/#DVR112L
then you will need to update using 8.21 patched in MCSE, patch both the flasher and the firmware.
Finally you need to change the 40 wire IDE cable, you must use an 80 Wire one, to get the best results from the drive and to stop problems

I have just crossflashed it to 112L fw 8.06.
"then you will need to update using 8.21 patched in MCSE, patch both the flasher and the firmware." Ok, i patched the firmware to be RPC1, saved it and renamed it to the original filemane. About the flasher. "allow same to same flashing" is this the box i need to tick positive? This is the only option i see, the flasher opened in MCSE.

you can try updating without patching the flasher, but more than likely you will need to tick the box you mentioned

Finally. My 112D @ 112L fw v8.21 RPC1 DVD-RAM recorder
Reads and writes DVD+R ok. Haven't tried labelflash and DVD-RAM yet.
Can you tell how to make sure booktype is set to DVD-ROM? Just burned a DVD+R and Nero info-tool reports: DVD-Video (DVD+R)

I understand that, just wanted to see that software reports DVD+R as DVD-ROM. I guess i should not worry now
Now waiting for 112L Buffalo fw v8.22 out, patch it with MCSE and flash the drive
Thanks again, PumaUK

I don't know what to add. Everything is written in this thread, i have no extra information.
I guess you didn't patch 8.21 firmware and flasher.
You have to extract 8.21.exe TWO times till you got 2 files only: R12LOIN.exe and A0413541.821, then open exe with MCSE, select "allow same to same flashing", save it. Open A0413541.821 with MCSE, select "RPC1 patch" save it. Then rename both files to original file names (delete _speedpatched). Reboot in Safemode and run the patch. WAIT till it says DONE.
Good luck!
