You can crossflash it with sfdnwin version 3.25.2 and the nocheck parameter, but I don

Thanks! Going to try it out now.

Well, I just figured out how to use the flasher without the -NOCHECK parameter... and it flashed without any problem at all. Thanks again!!!

From the commandline. Try it.

Just create a shortcut of the utility.
Right click on it and select properties.
Look for target box.

You should see something similar.

"C:\Users\Anybody\Desktop\Dell patches\sfdnwin.exe"

Right at the end of it add -nocheck

"C:\Users\Anybody\Desktop\Dell patches\sfdnwin.exe" -nocheck

Click ok. Run the shortcut and you should see the nocheck highlighted at the top left corner of the utility GUI.

:)

Hi,

I have the same drive in a Dell E520 computer.

Drive Info says its TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653A D300

Is it possible to flash using sfdnwin.exe and nocheck parameter as described for the D400 revision?

PS Has this worked for anyone out there?

Thanks,

Lucasimo

There's a SB03 now from Samsung, it's an .exe file http://preview.tinyurl.com/yr25xu When you get to Samsung you may need to rename the file to just .exe and they've added a comma (,) on by mistake.

I've posted a link to this forum on VideoHelp www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters/samsung-sh ... h653a/1806

Thanks to RPC1 and its members for posting the info on flashing! :)

Hi,

In the previous posts, it mentions that you can cross flash the TSST H653A D300 to the Samsung S183A.

I have looked at the Codeguys site and they have a RPC1 firmware for the Samsung S183A.

Can I cross flash straight to the patched RPC1 Samsung S183A SB02 firmware, or should I first flash the TSST to the RPC2 S183A SB02 firmware then flash to the RPC1 version?

I have flashed other drives successfully before, so I am reasonably knowledgeable about the flashing process.

Many thanks in advance!

L

its not recommended, but user's choice, if you want to flash to RPC1, its quicker

Flash it on your own risk!

HI everyone,

I took a risk and crossflashed my TSST H653A to RPC2 S183A SB02 firmware using the nocheck parameter.

Then I flashed to the patched RPC1 Samsung S183A SB02 firmware from the Codeguys site.....

And IT WORKED!!

I now have a region free drive.

One thing I should point out... I had to use an aftermarket DVD player software as Media Centre and Media Player wouldnt play the DVD (using Vista Home Premium). I think these programs dont like region free drives. To be honest, I dont like them anyway!!

Anyway, thats fixable with some other software patch for Windows....

I must say that the drive seems quiter now as well :)

Many thanks to the patchers and everyone else on here.

:D
