I flashed Etna's firmware (SBW242) on my QSI SBW242U, on my Alienware Area 51m 766 laptop. I created a bootdisk with freeboot on a usb pen drive. I booted from the usb drive and in the A:/ prompt typed autoqsi2 and went throught the firmware flashing steps. Flashing the firmware went ok, but now the drive is not recognized by the system bios neither windows, nor can i open the cd tray. Briefly, the drive is D.E.A.D. Does anyone know what can i do to make it work again? Thank you!

dead maybe because you flashed the wrong firmware, these are different drives, you would need to try and flash the correct firmware back to the drive

I tried flashing Dell SBW242U firmware, but it doesn't recognize the drive neither the Bios. I don't have the firmware for my exact drive. But if I did, how can i flash it if it doesn't even recognize that the drive exists?

Have you read the WARNING on etna's site carefully?

Because of the special and unique calibration data of your drive, its probably dead now, forever.

You didn't happen to make a backup of your drive's original firmware, did you?

That would be the real life saver, indeed.

Autoqsi dosn't contain any firmware. It reads the firmware from the drive patch it and write it back. Please check your pendrive for the unmodified backup of your drive.

Other Question: Was the SBW242U not an USB drive? MTKFLASH from AUTOQSI2 schould do nothing with USB-Drives. (It can not access this drives)
