Hey!

I had recently misflashed my drive and it was not detected in the BIOS nor had any power and was all but dead, fortunately i found someone with the same drive and he was nice enough to give me a firmware in .bin(binary) format! He said mtkflash utility could not get the firmware but then i recommended he try XSF and it seemed to do the trick!

I have used both MTKWinFlash and the XSF utility to flash my drive and its alive now... But i have a new problem...

Windows and windows based utilities now no longer detect the drive! I have tried a few things like changing the IDE channel but nothing has worked thus far.
The BIOS does detect this drive in the 'drive' section as the secondary slave but does not show it in the 'boot' configuration section, earlier it used to show it there. The eject button now works and the drive seems to know if there is a CD in it or not...

If there is a CD then the LCD light remains on or else it goes off like it used to before but i cannot boot the system into dos mode if i put a bootable disk in this drive...

I own an Asus 5216a combo drive. I have tried flashing it version 1.55 and 1.83c of MTKFlash's dos version but unlike its windows version apparently the dos version does not work on my drive and i gave that up after there was no response even after 5 minutes of giving the command... All i get from it after i press escape is a message that 'value is 73 and should be 70'...

Anyone got any ideas?

Anyone... ?

Any ideas... ?

Peace
