Hi folks and NIL,

I've been reading every thing about misflashed UJDA 720 drives in this Forum since october/2002. I, like many others, misflashed my drive. I have a toshiba notebook 1400 s-151 that cames with an Matshita UJDA 720 DVD/CDRW drive, and I misflashed it (trying to set it region free) with an IBM firmware. It caused me an "ide #1 error" message on boot and my drive is only available on Win Xp Pro only when I come back from a Standby mode. When I misflashed it, probably my jumper settings where mistakenly changed.

Ok, I kwon how to put my unit on another computer to flash it again, I also have another equal notebook to dump using mpatch -a. The problem is that, even on this new notebook just like mine, when I run the mpatch I get the message "no compliant device found". IDEDIAG finds dvd unit on secondary master IDE on this new notebook, but mpatch can't work. Why?

I know all the steps, including the drvloadc trick for avoid hanging, but I can't dump it?

Does anybody have the firmware already dumped?

Thaks guys!!! and sorry about my english, I'm from Brazil.

I had the same problem too but my computer is an Acer Travelmate 630. Is available a patch for UJDA-720 not for IBM? Thanks for your job guys

Guys,

As you all know, the only solution to correct the firmware misflashings of the first RPC-1 experiments (and I am grateful to everybody who tested, especially to those of you who lost CD burning or other functions in the process) is to get the exact same firmware as you once had and flash it back. Now the only way to do that is to get someone with the same drive to dump it and send it to us, which is why I've asked Arzeno to take care of this and upload the collected firmwares on this site.

So if you don't see anything coming, please try to kindly remind him that some UJDA users are still waiting for the UJDA download section.

I'll also try to finish the CD-R version of the autopatcher as soon as I can find the time.

Hello there, I'm a not so proud owner of Gericom 1st Supersonic M6-T who has the same unfortunate Matshita UJDA710 combo drive, so to make the long story short I'll get right on to the problem, 6 months ago I bought a nec nd-1100a DVD+RW drive (also a special story, but later..) and got myself a lot of DVD+R discs, everything went on good until i tried to read the recorded DVD+R-s on UJDA and then SURPRISE i try to watch the movie but UJDA reports that there is no disk in drive , this is not only the case with DVD+R-s but with some CD-s too. So i try to upgrade firmware but there is no firmware on the official pages to upgrade to.
OK i try google and find this site and I see that some of you guys have the same problem, what I want to know did anyone solve this problem and if not , is there any way I can help you to solve this together.
I am willing to test anything as I am on the edge of replaceing this UJDA with something else. If you want and have the tools to do this I will extract the firmware and send it to you.

By the way let it been known :

All of you who have the NEC nd-1100a abandon all hope of trying to upgrade to 1300. I've tried and tried everything and the quest was a complete failiure. Those guys on the CZ are telling fairy tales.

Also owners of Lite-On 48x24x48 you can upgrade your drive to 52x24x52
but do not try to upgrade to 52x32x52 as you will fail and if, unlucky permanently lose your CD-RW..

I have a UJDA720 for TOSHIBA Satellite Pro.
I did a dump when flashing RPC1 and just send the dump to Arzeno.
Hopefully, if the dump is usefull, the original firmware should be uploaded soon.
Hope that will help.

No, you have to ask MatsuSHITa yourself.

Hi!
I have problem with Toshiba Satellite 5005-s504.
My new Matsushita UJDA710(F/W Ver.1.50) not detected from notebook.
How can I chanage master/slave on UJDA710 ,or update the new firmware 1.51, or what about pin 45 , 47 on IDE?
Where can I download the latest firmware (slave) for Matsushita UJDA710.
There are nothing on the Matsushita and Toshiba sites...

I'm looking for firmware for the UJDA750. I'm not sure if it even exists as I see mention of every driver but mine. What do I do (I'm kind of new with this topic but just to make sure I'm in the right area, this is to be able to access region 2 DVD's) Thanx

Can anyone with knowledge of the locations of any firmwares for the Panasonic (Matsushita) UJDA7xx please provide those locations. I understand about the autopatcher and the reasoning behind removing the firmware links to idiot proof the RPC1 patching; however, the autopatcher does little good when you currently have the wrong firmware on your drive. I made a backup of my original firmware UJDA710 1.04 SM for HP but lost it in a harddrive crash. I am currenly running the 1.50 firmware as it is the only firmware I can find. It allows me all CD-RW functions but NO DVD functions. RPC1 or 2 I don't care anymore I would just be happy and greatful if anyone could provide the location of the 1.04 firmware for the UJDA710. Thanks.

Sorry about exhuming such an old post but this did work for me (UJDA720 in a Toshiba TE2100) after I flashed it with the IBM 1.03 firmware which made it a secondary slave with the dreaded error#1 message.
Just one thing - I flashed it back to 1.00 on the Toshiba by editing the FLASH.BAT to target the secondary slave IE /SS option in the command line:
DRVLOADC /O /U /SS Tb-100.720

I hope this helps someone

I also used the IBM 1.03 firmware update that caused my system to hang for about 30 seconds at POST.

Techsnake and Pilgrum have the fix that worked for me and my Panasonic Toughbook CF-48

After the flash using the /o /u /ss switches my UJDA 720 returned to what seems to be normal operation, I have yet to test CD-R/RW and DVD functions but my POST speeds are back to normal and the drive shows in the BIOS, before it was not being detected at all.

"DRVLOADC /O /U /SS Tb-100.720 "

Thank you for this great fix, I will leave well enough alone now.

After that I misflahed my drive UJDA720 on a Toshiba Tecra 9100, I found another drive in my company and I was able to read the original Toshiba firmware and to flash my drive back.
I someone needs that, you can download the package here: ***.megaupload.com/?d=SRAKB4JC

Hey Bengy,

Can you or anyone else repost the original firmware for the UJDA720 for a Toshiba Tecra 9100? I got a generic one from Ebay for my wife's friend and I get the IDE #1 error. I hope that flashing with the OEM version will cure that thanks.

The host for that link must have been down. It worked tonight but I was able to find the files elsewhere. It was very painful trying to get the Tecra to boot into a usable DOS mode. The machine is a misfit left-over from our local TV station.

Here's what worked:

"if UJDA720 is connected on Secondary/Slave, you should change
the option from "/sm" to "/sr" in LOADER.BAT file, as follows.
> DRVLOADC.EXE /sr Ver100MT.720"

Upon reboot no "IDE #1 Error" and Roxio burnt a perfect CD at 8X. Headache is over. Hope that this info helps.
