I've come to understand that other than flashing a 111D in a PC, flashing it on my G5 will mean I have to wait until DVRFlash_v2.2 will support it, right?
Once it has come that far, can it be used to flash it with the Pioneer supplied firmware, other that the region-free/hacked versions supplied here?
I use my drive for my business and I'm only interested in solving the issues I have now: when I burn a DVD from an disc-image made with DVD Studio Pro using Toast Titanium, I always get 'MEDIA ERROR' and stuff like that (I use Nashua discs). When I lower the speed to say 6x, I might be able to write the damn thing using the same blank disc. It just seems the speed negotiation between Toast, the drive and the media somehow is not correct. I have not found a way to remedy this...
(G5 dual 2,3/DVR-111D Atapi 1.19, Toast Titanium 7.1)

could i please ask a simple question and get a simple answer with no attacks. i have never ever flashed a burner on a PC. i have a Pioneer 111 and all i want to ask is this. is all i need to flash the 111 on a PC the RPC1.exe firmware for it or do i need an appz like DVRflash(but not DVRflash of course) to install? it might sound like a stupid question to people with experience but i have none with PCs therefore the question. i want to be prepared when i attempt to flash my drive in a friends PC. thanks

all you need is the 1.29 firmware from TDB and run the Upgrade file and that will flash it to RPC1

PumaUK wrote: all you need is the 1.29 firmware from TDB and run the Upgrade file and that will flash it to RPC1 I am sorry that I am a very stupid people. First, where is TDB? Second, it looks like that I need two things, the firmware and the upgrader??? From the download page of rpc1 Quote: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2220 there is only one file ==> DVR111D_FW129EU.EXE
If I connect the 111D to a Windows machine and execute (run) the DVR111D_FW129EU.EXE from a DOS box of any Windows, it will change the 111D into a region free writer? and I can use the 111D in a mac?
Thanks!

http://tdb.rpc1.org/
download from above, the link you provided is for the official firmware, the dangerous bros is RPC1, you do not need to open any command prompt, just run the upgrade file and following what it says.
If you want to flash the official only download and run the exe and follow what it says

patpatp all you need is inside the exe file. just run in on the PC since DVRflash has not been updated to flash in a MAC for the 111 yet. then once flashed drop the 111 into your MAC. all will work fine. you will also need this:
http://rapidshare.de/files/19565786/Reg ... el_ppc.dmg
once patched you have indefinite region changes using this above appz. it will not work unless you flash to regionfree RPC1 first. do not attempt to use this appz unless flashed. and of course nothing is guaranteed. use all flashers and items at your own risk as stated over and over here.

That appz is for Intel Mac only or a UB?
Is there a web page for the appz?

Not directed at anyone specifically...
You belong to a group of people who have bought a car which "never breaks down", and the engine compartment has been welded shut. This is grand, because the cars are pretty and very very reliable.
This is all very grand.
Over time all the places that service cars stop bothering with your brand of car because, after all, the manufacturer says they are immune to breakage. People stop getting trained on how to fix your car, and companies stop making spare parts for your car.
You lament the dearth of these services, it is progress after all.
There are other people with uglyier cars and you chuckle heartily at them, they don't like their cars very much, but they are cheap and functional, and most any one can service them.
Unfortunately, people can still hit your car, you can still drive it into immovable objects, and you can accidently fill it with diesel.
So unless you, or others who own cars like you and are technically competent to work on them suddenly learn how to use cutting torches or spanners, no progress will be made.
We are unlikely to service such cars, unless a few free, and loaded, ones show up in our garage.

Will the pc upgrade file process work if I house an 111-D in an external box rather than mount it inside the pc? I presume it asks where the file is to be placed or does it search automaically if the flash files are labelelled ext rather than int.
I am getting ready to upgrade to an Intel I Mac and will purchase a 111-D or a 110-D or both (there are still a few around).
Thanks.

In the past I read of many Mac users who ran Virtual PC and flashed their drives via external USB cases. Then they moved the drive directly into the Mac. VPC didn't allow flashing the drive internally.
Now that the Intel processors and Boot Camp (and other virtualization software) are more common, I wonder if the PC updaters can flash an internal drive, assuming one is launched into the Windows environment.
I haven't read of any direct reports of this, but I'm guessing that Boot Camp might allow it, but that the other two methods, due to lack of proper drivers, may not. Can anyone comment from experience?

Read the entire "Pioneer DVR-K06 burn speed issues (Master/Slave)?" thread.

Still no news? Will there ever be a chance to flash my DVR-111 to 1.29 on a G5 PPC?

If you want that so badly, what is the problem to remove the drive and flash it in another computer??

I see a mention of a 1.29 firmware version but according to Pioneer 1.23 is the newest available.
Is this 1.29 only a TDB release? or is this available elsewhere as a official Pioneer firmware?
